2012 Directory Drive Starts

The Handmade Tile Association directories are the concept that started the HTA's acceleration to a major player in the tile world. The original 16 page directories were black and white of basic information of who, what, why, and where about twelve tile artists could be found.  It was the upper Midwest's yellow pages of tile resources.
Today 13 years later we have publish a 52 page full color national tile directory that is a comprehensive tile booklet packed with great tile artists, quality tile setters, tile showrooms, material resources, tile history, articles on tile, calendars and so much more.
As we kick off the 13th annual directory drive we hope all of you that have advertised in this years publication or are new or have been thinking about being in the directory will review our options to take part in the 2012 directory, the best marketing tool for tile artists in the United States. QR Codes

QR Code
Use your smart phone and shot this QR code and see where it takes you
Chances are you have probably seen these black and white squares multi squares popping up in magazines, billboards and at stores. They are called QR codes which stands for Quick Response.
Why do they matter and how do they work?
  1. Viewer sees a QR Code on a print ad or a web page
  2. Viewer loads a QR Code scanning application on your mobile phone
  3. Viewer photographs the QR Code with your mobile phone
  4. The QR Code scanning application then provides the viewer with a URL and the option to load it on your phone's web browser.

In simple terms they matter to artists because they are basically a free UPC code you can put on your work, postcards, business cards, tents, cars, anything that people who want to know more about you but can't talk to you. They can be taken right to your website, event, newsletter, or sale. The QR codes gives artists and small businesses a tool that only large companies could afford before, a tracking device that shows you were and what people are interested in when you are not around to ask questions. Are your ads working? Does your postcard and brochures really work? You have a long website name everyone misspells no longer a problem they just aim their phone at your QR code and they are on your site.

Here is the website to generate your free QR codes
http://qrcode.kaywa.com/

To get a free QR code reader for your phone device or I Touch you can go to the Apple store and ask for a QR code reader and Scanner

Many Droid platforms already have them downloaded on your phones. If you don't have one just type in QR code reader for Droids and you will get the free app

The same thing goes for artists chosen for the HTA "Artist of the Month" spotlight. If they connect with me early, I can integrate more of their work and interests in the press release.
