Greetings!
Welcome to the 10th year of the Handmade Tile Association! The 10th year directory edition is out and all members and 3000 of our fans will be receiving copies in the next couple of weeks. If you wish to hand out directories at your studio and/or arts festivals, drop them off at coffee shops, trade shows, galleries, art centers, doctors offices, airports or any other place you know people should be reading a copy of the directory please stop in the HTA office and pick up a box. For our members and supporters outside the MN region we will send you a flat rate box of 50 directories free of charge just e mail the HTA office and we will ship it out. Don't be shy we have to distribute 7000 of them by the end of the year and the earlier they get out the more people can use them.
Goal Setting
Goals for 2009 for the
HTA are similar to many years past: 1. Educating
people that fabulous tiles and mosaics are available to be used not
only as installations but as art. 2. Get our members to know each other and collaborate and become better artists and business professionals. 3. To communicate with our membership opportunities and educate the membership to develop their skills and ideas. To accomplish our goals the HTA will
be co sponsoring a national tile conference with the Potters Council in September in conjunction
with the MN Tile Festival. There will be many workshops, gallery shows,
and tile tours for our members to help accomplish the goals and get
exposure at the same time. The HTA will be encouraging members to make more
presentations to professional trade groups like the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA), American Institute of Architects (AIA),
and American Society of Interior Designers (ASID). To accomplish this
we will need members to help facilitate the presentations by contacting
the representatives in your immediate area. The HTA can help by providing
you with a power point presentation on a CD to work with and images and content
to create your own presentation as well as directories and even cover
costs of providing lunch for the participants up to $40 per
presentation. As part of the process we will continue to develop
gallery shows across the country for tile and mosaics to be shown as
art. The HTA has two shows slated for 2010 and many galleries are two
years out in their scheduling process. What we need are members to
find galleries and art centers criteria and write the proposals to have
a show at each perspective gallery. The HTA can facilitate calls to
members and provide graphics, content, and images upon request. All the tools are in place if you are ready to build upon the success of the past 10 years the HTA is ready to help you get more exposure and opportunities to build your business.

HTA website linking
|
The Handmade Tile Association website has been completely updated with all the new artists, advertisers, and event calendar. Please take a moment to check your link to make sure it is going to the right place and is in the right region. Also review the website for all the opportunities available to you this year. The website is also our second most important tool as an organization next to the directory. It works best when people submit events like classes, workshops, gallery shows, new products, and tile tours. The HTA will be working on making the site more interactive this year by utilizing Linked In, facebook and other social networks to get more exposure to people who don't know about tile and mosaics and get them hooked on what we all do. Make sure if you haven't already to link your website to www.handmadetileassociation.org and you will help draw more people to your site as well as the organziations.

Get your 5 hours of volunteering done
|
The HTA has a few volunteer jobs we are looking to finish up for the end of the year. In January and February the HTA needs a volunteer or two to help make packets up for
directory requests and to help mail out the boxes of 50 directories to
members not in driving range. It is also tax season and a person with
good filing capabilities would be welcomed.
After 10 years the HTA has collected a lot of important papers and historical documents. We are looking for a person that could compile all the articles on our members, postcards, posters from our events, and other important facts that tell the story of the HTA in a simple book for posterity. If this of interest you contact the HTA. 612-781-6409 Not in the local area and you want to volunteer? Consider making a proposal to a gallery to have a show of the Handmade Tile Association members. Contact the HTA to find out how you can get images and develop an effective plan to get the HTA out to more people. Remember if you can put in 5 hours of volunteer time you will get a free year link on the HTA website. A $180 value. Contact Josh Blanc 612-781-6409 info@handmadetileassociation.org
