COBIT 5

COBIT 5 is the latest edition of ISACA's globally accepted framework, providing and end-to-end business view of the governance of enterprise IT that reflects the central role of information and technology in creating value for enterprises.

Dear  ,

Next week will be our Annual Chapter Meeting on May 31.  In addition to hearing about what our chatper has done over the past year, we look forward to hearing from Ken Vander Wal, International President of ISACA.  He will be speaking to us about the new COBIT 5 that was released last month.  The meeting is Thursday, May 31, from 11:30 to 3:00 (register).

Enjoy your summer!

Regards,
President, ISACA Phoenix Chapter

Membership Spotlight

Going forward each month we will spotlight one of our chapter members.  Our hope is that this will help us to get to know each other and promote networking within the chapter.

So if you have someone you think we should spotlight, please send our Membership Chairperson Tim Cox that person's name.

This month's spotlight is on Aaron Cook ISACA Phoenix Chapter Secretary.

Aaron received a BS in Economics and a Masters in Public Administration.  He was an auditor with the State Auditor General's Office and is now with the City of Phoenix.  He has 10 years of auditing experience with an emphasis in information technology auditing.

What got you interested in IT auditing?

I've always enoyed working with computers and programming.  When the opportunity to get specalized training and focus on IT audit projects presented itself at my first auditing job, I took it and I've stuck with it.

Why did you join ISACA?

As I began IT auditing I started reading through ISACA journals and looking up information in the IT Assurance Guide.  I noticed that to advance my career I needed to become certified, so I joined ISACA and earned the CISA.

Why did you become the chapter secretary?

A previous supervisor encouraged all of his staff to be actively involved in professional associations.  He found that he got out of them (via networking, training opportunities, and improved skills) a lot more than he put in and I think I've found the same.  I've made great relationships and feel like I'm much more valuable to my employer because of being actively involved in ISACA.
