| Greetings!
We just learned that Kathy Ruhr, a Director on our Board has taken a position in California. Kathy has been a fantastic volunteer to our organization. Over the past 3+ years, Kathy has championed the CISA/CISM Review Courses and interacted with ISACA International to learn about Best Practices and apply that knowledge and expertise locally. She will be trully missed. The Board of Directors wishes all of the best to Kathy in her future endeavors.
We had a great chapter meeting last month focused on Privacy Issues and Risk-Based Data Protection. This was the highest attended chapter meeting event we've had in years, and we are grateful everyone was patient with the eating arrangements we had to employ due to our size.
We've received information regarding a few other events in our area. The IT Summit will be in downtown Phoenix on May 5th, and ISACA members enjoy a $100 discount. In addition, a group is forming to study for the Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) exam, and the group is looking for more participants. Both of these items are explained in greater detail below.
We also have two upcoming events.
- Membership Appreciation Event - on May 19th, from 5:00 to 9:00pm, we will have our annual Membership Appreciation Event. This will provide another opportunity for chapter members to network and enjoy some food, drinks, and lots of prizes.
- ITIL v3 Foundations Course with Exam - on July 14, 15, and 16 we will be having the same training event held last July, which includes the ITIL exam. Last July's class was a great success, and with a 25-person limit, there was a waiting list. So we've decided to bring the training to our members again.
Look for more details on both events to be coming soon!
Regards,
Adam Remis, CPA, CISA, MISM
President, ISACA Phoenix Chapter

Intereseted in the CIPP? - Privacy Study Group |
A group is forming for those interested in Privacy and the Certified Information Privacy Practitioner (CIPP) certification. Some ISSA members are already involved, and the group of prospective applicants for certification is over 10 now.
Why should I be interested?
The International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) is the premiere organization for privacy professionals. It has been said "there can be Security without Privacy but there can be no Privacy without Security." Privacy is a natural progression for many Security specialists and a growing field of specialization. You can view the IAPP's web site at https://www.privacyassociation.org.
How do I get involved?
A group of interested professionals is now forming in Phoenix. If you wish to participate, contact the undersigned to be put on an information and mailing list. Currently, there are some after hour meetings that take place on an infrequent basis. More definite meetings will be planned if there is support for it.
Who do I contact?
If you are interested, please email:
Mark Williams, CISSP, CISA, CNNA
