To: All the Christians
CHURCH OF THE HOLY SPIRIT (Anglican), VIRGINIA - USA.

Dear Brethren,

I salute you all in the precious name of our Lord and Savior - Jesus Christ.

On behalf of the Students, Staff, Management, Board of Governors, members of my household and on my own behalf, I extend to you our sincere and hearty gratitude.

First and foremost, we thank you for the love and the fellowship that we share because our faith in Jesus Christ as our Savior & Lord as revealed in the Scriptures. If we are to lose anything, we can not afford to lose our faith because it is so precious. (Luke 10:24, Philippians 3:7-11).

Secondly,  I thank you for the material and financial resources that you give to us to make our work of training Church leaders who are to advance a biblically based gospel to  win many souls for Christ. Particularly, we thank all those who sent gifts to our College which were brought to us by the Rev. Clancy on his recent trip to our Diocese to attend the Consecration & enthronement of the fifth Bishop of the Diocese of Ruwenzori - The Rt. Rev. Patrick Kyaligonza on 22nd February 2009 at St. John's Cathedral - Kabarole,  Fort Portal, Uganda.

Last but not least, we thank you for supporting and enabling our Brother Rev. Clancy Nixon to come and be with us for the days he has spent with us.  We encourage you to continue supporting and obeying him for the advancement of authentic Christianity that promotes biblical principles and values. (Heb. 13:17).

May the Peace of God be in your hearts, your homes, at your places of work and in your Church.

Christians greetings from Bishop Balya College, the Diocese of Ruwenzori and the entire Church of the Province of Uganda.

SecondstoryMemorizing Scripture:
An Inheritance in the LORD
-by Ginger Nixon

Almost every summer, from my toddler through teen years, my family would drive from my hometown of Mobile, Alabama, to Atlanta, Georgia, where we'd scoop up our precious, 4'10" Grandmother, "Mama" (pronounced Mehmeh) and travel on to Montreat, North Carolina for two glorious weeks filled with mountain climbin', rock hoppin', cousin huggin' and Bible recitin'.  The fresh mountain air was a great retreat from hot, balmy Mobile, and the terrain was entirely different too.  For those two glorious weeks Mama and her three children and nine grandchildren crowded into a small mountain cottage.  Many great aunts and uncles, first, second, and third cousins and so on, would be staying in nearby cottages too.

There are many happy memories from those years, but one memory that always seemed like drudgery at the time ironically has become a treasured inheritance. Every morning before breakfast, each of us had to memorize and recite a Bible verse and on Sunday mornings we had to memorize an entire chapter.  No verse, no meal, no repeats, no kidding!  If we wanted to eat we had to study and memorize, and believe me we knew that the shortest verse in the Bible was "Jesus wept" and the next was "God is love."  But we usually focused on the Psalms and loved saying Psalm 24, especially the call and response. Mama would say "Lift up your heads oh ye gates and be ye lifted up ye everlasting doors and the King of Glory shall come in." Then she'd say, "Who is this King of Glory?  And we'd shout out, "the LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle!"  Next she would repeat the question, "Who is this King of Glory?" and we'd all cry in unison, "THE LORD OF HOSTS, HE IS THE KING OF GLORY!"

As I reflect from time to time on the inheritance Mama left us, I realize she never had much money but she left us a fortune in memorized scripture.  I'll take scripture in my long-term-memory bank any day over money in my Savings Bank. Actually, scripture memory is a more reliable savings and trust bank anyway.  I'm praying that during Lent we will take time to memorize and recite our memory verses with each other.  What if, for the next 40 days, we each memorized and recited a Bible verse to someone before eating breakfast?   I'm game; are you?

Last Week's Guess Who?

Tobias family

Last week's "Guess Who" is Paul Tobias. Paul is in the center with his wife Lisa and sons Daniel (upper left), Bryan (lower left), and Alex.

Raised in Akron, Ohio and a graduate of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, this multi-talented CHS man enjoys aviation history, playing guitar, and riding really extreme roller coasters!  Paul plays bass guitar in the praise band and the entire Tobias clan is involved in set up and break down every Sunday (and just about everything else for CHS). After working many years for National Geographic, Paul now runs his own multimedia graphic design business, "Tobias Media".

Linda's Beef Stew
-by Linda Wenkel

2 pounds (at least!) beef for stew
2 cans tomato sauce
2 cans stewed (or crushed) tomatoes
4-5 small potatoes (peeled & cut into little chunks)
1 envelope Lipton Onion Soup mix (mixed with 1 cup of water)
½ pound or so of fresh (washed & snapped) green beans
3 or 4 carrots (peeled & sliced into coin-sized pieces)
1 can of corn or 1 small bag of frozen corn
1 small to medium onion (chopped small)
1 bay leaf

Preheat oven to 300 degrees.  Cut any larger sized beef cubes into smaller chunks.  Put beef cubes into large ziplock bag and coat with flour, salt & pepper.  Brown in 2 tbls. Oil in dutch oven.  Add onion soup mixed with water and all other ingredients.  Put lid on and bake at least 4-5 hours in 300 degree oven. NOTE:  You can put in a bag of mixed vegetables, but I like fresh better.  You can also add any other vegetables that you have on hand.  I've also made this in the crockpot, but I think it just tastes better when cooked in the oven.
(Then you could bring it to a pot trust in your crockpot. -ed)
