Anglican District of Virginia (ADV) Men's Weekend
May 1-3 in Shepherdstown, WV
by John Nuzum

Last year's ADV Men's Weekend was a great success and this year's Weekend promises to even be better.  Just ask those who attended last year like Jeff Milrod, Jim Heigl, Mark Pinkman or John Hickey, to name a few.

With economic conditions the way they are, the Steering Committee wanted a theme for this year's weekend that would be revelant and minister to those attending.  According to committee member John Petty of Truro Church, "We wanted the men to leave the conference better prepared spiritually to meet the challenges they face each day in a worldwide economic downturn then when they came."

After prayer and discussion the Sterring Committee decided on the theme, "Walking in the Power of the Spriit in Challenging Times."  Each speaker's talk will focus on an aspect of how God is calling each man to walk in faith as he faces the challenges of today's world.

Pastor Pierre
<Pastor Vaugelas Pierre

Pastor Clancy will be one of the speakers addressing the Weekend along with special guest speaker Dr. Ken Boa of Reflections Ministries, Atlanta, GA.  Pastor Vaugelas Pierre of Lacroix, Haiti, the little man with the faith of Biblical giants has been invited to address the audience, as well as, Pastor Ron Klabunde Founder and President of Enrich NOVA who has stepped out in faith with his family to plant a new church in Sterling, VA. Bishop David Bena will host the opening evening meeting and will also be a featured speaker.

ADV Men's Weekend Chairman, John Nuzum said,  "Each speaker has faced challenges in their Christian life, so we have invited them to talk to us through the anointing of the Holy Spirit.  Each speaker will uniquely speak into each man's life who attends.  It is a very special time that no man at CHS should miss."

For questions and brochures see John Hickey, the CHS Weekend representative.  John can be reached at (h) 703-729-8368.  For detailed information please go to www.advmen.com and learn all about this ADV sponsored Men's Weekend.  Assistance or scholarships are available by contacting John Nuzum with your confidential request at 703-771-9525.

UNDER OUR SKIN
Lyme Disease Film
Special Screening Sposored by CHS
Patrick Henry College
in the Nash Auditorium
Thursday, Feb 26 at 7:00pm
Admission is free

The reported incidence of Lyme disease in Loudoun County is about 20 times greated than the rest of Virginia. If you or someone you know has been affected by Lyme or if you just want to know more about this controversal disease, join us on February 26 to learn more - and bring guests.

This film, Under Our Skin, was made by Andy Abrahams Wilson whose sister contracted Lyme. Later, a friend was critically ill with mysterious cognitive and neurological impairments that turned out to by Lyme.

The movie's website, UnderOurSkin.com, describes the film as, "A dramatic tale of microbes, medicine and money, this eye-opening film investigates the untold story of Lyme disease, an emerging epidemic larger than AIDS. Each year thousands go undiagnosed or misdiagnosed, told that their symptoms are "all in their head." Following the stories of patients and physicians as they battle for their lives and livelihoods, the film brings into focus a haunting picture of our health care system and its inability to cope with a silent terror under our skin." Ashley Campolattaro and the DC Avon Walk for Breast Cancer

"Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life."
 Psalm 138:7

Campolattaros
Ashley and her husband Dario have three boys, Jackson, Max, and Wesley. They are currently hosting the Brambleton home group meeting on Tuesday nights. Ashley started walking on the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer three years ago after her Mom was diagnosed with the disease. While her Mom is doing well with no signs of her cancer returning - she's a returning volunteer on the Walk's crew - Ashley knows several people impacted by breast cancer and she walks for them. The walking team Ashley does the walk with is called the Step Sisters. Last year, the Step Sisters raised $135,000 and were the #2 top grossing team in this region!

- by Ashley Campolattaro

As many of you know, this spring I will be walking a marathon and a half over the course of a weekend as a participant in the Washington , DC Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. Once again I am honored to be walking with an amazing team of women, The Step Sisters. We all have our personal reasons for walking and each have been touched by this disease in some way.

When I participated in the walk three years ago, my life had only been impacted directly by one person with breast cancer, my Mom. Now the list has grown exponentially in a period of only a few years. Did you know that every three minutes, another woman in the United States is diagnosed with breast cancer? Most everyone you meet has been (or will be) touched in some way by this horrible disease.

Although the walk is not until May, to participate in these events I am required to raise a minimum of $1800. I ask that you please take this opportunity to honor the women you love by donating to the cause. Give whatever you can, every dollar really does help. And if you'd like me to walk in honor/memory of anyone close to you who has battled breast cancer, please drop a note in with your pledge.

Thank you for your generous support.
- Ashley

Tortilla Roll-ups
-by Linda Wenkel

These would be great for the hospitality table (hint, hint).

1 - Pkg. Flour Tortilla's (10)
3 - Pkgs. Cream Cheese (8 oz.)
2 - Pkgs. (dry) Hidden Valley Ranch Dip
2 - Small Cans Chopped Black Olives
2 - Cups Celery, chopped
1 to 1 ½ Cups, Green Pepper, chopped
1 - Cup Green Onions, chopped
Tabasco Sauce to Taste

Soften cream cheese.  In large bowl, blend cream cheese and
ranch dip; mix thoroughly.  Fold in olives, celery, green pepper and green onion.  Add Tabasco Sauce to taste.  Take one tortilla and place a 'glob' of cream cheese mixture on it and spread to the edges - ONLY ON ONE HALF OF THE TORTILLA!  Roll the tortilla up tightly so the mixture spreads itself over to the other half of the tortilla.  Place rolled tortilla, seam side down, on a cookie sheet.  Continue until all tortillas are rolled.  Place in fridge at least 8 hours to allow cream cheese to harden again. When ready to serve, take a rolled tortilla, and with a sharp knife, slice off each end and eat!  Slice the 'pinwheels' to about ½" thickness and place onto serving tray.
