Intellectual Disability
Committee Meeting
Fairfax County Government Center WHEN: Thursday July 10, 2008 at 7 pm WHERE: Room 232 in the Fairfax County Government Center (to the left after entering lobby of building) -- NOTE that this is in the Govt Center NOT IN PENNINO! PURPOSE: The FX FC Intellectual Disabilities Committee is convening to begin discussions to address FY2010 budget reductions BACKGROUND: On June 13th, County Executive Griffin requested that ALL Fairfax County agencies prepare list of possible budget reductions totaling 15% of the County money currently provided to them. In the case of the FX-FC CSB, this represents a total of over $16 million. The pro-rata amount for which MR/ID is responsible for is $5.1 million. This is IN ADDITION to a recurring 4% reduction imposed on all agencies so the total reduction for MR/ID is over $6 million. The CSB must present their list in a public meeting to the BOS scheduled for November 14th. IMPORTANCE OF MEETING: This will be the first step for stakeholder input to the FX-FC Board. At this meeting, staff will provide a detailed overview of the schedule and process for developing the list of proposed reductions. Staff will provide an detailed overview of the current MR/ID budget, referencing dollars spent, individuals served, staff positions and contract obligations. ID Committee members will, with stakeholder input, begin to identify principles to guide in the identification of these reductions. NEXT STEPS: The next 90 days are the critical period for this FY2010 budget exercise. Following this first meeting, there will be an addition IDC meeting in early August and additional full CSB work sessions and Board meetings during July and August. The list of proposed reductions MUST be finalized during September so July and August is the critical time period for stakeholder involvement. ______________________________________ |
