Fun Factor Group 040910
Hi

Go team!  We held our first "Fun Factor" SEMINAR at Factor10 Martial Arts on the weekend just gone and it was a real treat.  Thanks to the people who attended who made it a great 2 hours of Martial Arts.  There were 15 people on the mats with me and I can tell you they were hanging off every move we did - I think the most motivated group I have ever worked with!

An Overview
The 2 hour seminar was on Saturday from 12.30 to 2.30pm and covered Long Stick Step Exercise and Ground Grappling.  We started the day with a fixed position traditional warm up and went straight into a technical intro on long stick with a simple attack and counter drill moving across the mats with a partner.  This was to help everyone get acquainted with their long stick and warm into the weapon.  Then it was straight into an awesome set of 14 defence techniques using the long stick to defend against a person attacking to the head with the long stick.

Each of the defences started with avoiding into face block or hooking block with some defences including avoiding with a preemptive strike to the face, body or legs.  As we worked through the set there were multiple counter strikes including striking to the attackers stick and the body.  Some defences included take downs to finish.  Real practical stuff that everyone can use in self defence.

We then moved onto the set of 14 Ground Grappling techniques that were just awesome and really challenged the group.  This set is an absolute "must learn" set for anyone wanting to cope in a high pressure self defence situation on the ground.

What did everyone get out of it?
Apart from the great technical training with 4 instructors there to assist with every move, the participants got to access the new "F10 OnLine" seminar multimedia materials for free as a treat for being the first "Fun Factor" participants.  By logging on to "F10 OnLine" after the seminar they get to revise the moves by watching the video on screen.  They also are able to click on the link to download the video files to put on their iTunes and mobile phone or iPad to view at any time.  As a special "wow" the participants got to see Grand Master Lee doing his stuff with these sets.

And that's not all - those of you who attend "Fun Factor" seminars more than once receive a 10% discount on every subsequent seminar you attend.  That's our way of rewarding and encouraging people who really want to invest in their Martial Arts development for the future.

What it's all about ... Fun Traditional Training

The seminar was about getting back to the fun of Martial Arts in a 2 hour seminar designed for you to just have some fun doing great classical Martial Arts training.

Having current members from our junior, adult and teenager programs there was a real treat and this is an indication that all age, belt and ability levels can attend our "Fun Factor" seminars and really learn and extend their level of Martial Arts knowledge.

What's on next ... Defence Against Knife
The next seminar is some great "hard core" Martial Arts training and has been scheduled for Saturday 6 November - in about 4 weeks time - and will cover 2 sets of Defence Against Knife.  One set includes 13 defence techniques against knife using striking techniques and the other set has 13 defences using joint twisting and locking.

By "hard core" I mean you'll get a rare opportunity to train some pretty "out there" techniques that really cannot be covered in daily classes.  These moves require some very careful seminar and tutorial style training where there are plenty of instructors to keep you on track.

At last weekend's "Fun Factor" seminar we had a ratio of 1 instructor to just over 2 students.

Apart from seeing our current members at the next seminar, I am also really looking forward to getting some interest from previous members on our mail list who have emailed or called me from time to time expressing interest in our quality training at Factor10 but who cannot make our regular scheduled classes because of work commitments.
