| Greetings!
Well can you believe that holidays are already here. The year is three quarters finished and here at the Academy we are busy preparing for the last few big events of the year. We have our Technical Hamadang on 25 October and our Christmas party/ Trophy night on December 5th. Add in there a visit from our Master Sung Soo Lee on Nov 21/22 who is running some Seminars for us and hopefully an Anti Bullying Seminar and I think we will be just about run out of time!!
I absolutely know that the Yellow Jacket Tournament was a great success when I received this great email from one of our Parent's following the tournament. I was so excited I just have to share it with you!
Hi Damien and Fiona, Thank you so much for conducting the Yellow Jacket tournament. ____ is still amazed that he won the yellow jacket and we are so proud of him. Winning the yellow jacket has had an amazing impact. He has always been enthusiastic about taekwondo and sparring but he doubted whether he was as "good" as the other bigger/older boys. Winning the yellow jacket has lifted his confidence to such an extent that he was comfortable taking on a much bigger 12yo boy at sparring on Friday and he focused on his attacking tactics. (He usually focuses on avoiding tactics) This confidence has flowed over to taekwondo class and at home too. Today a game was not working the way he wanted too but instead of his usual complaining, walking away or seeking help straight away, he sat down and worked through the problem for 20minutes and he solved the issue. We commented on how proud we were and how he had just demonstrated his yellow jacket traits again! I think he now believes he is capable of achieving a lot more now than he previously thought he was capable of because he won the yellow jacket and what that signifies to him. If the photos of him in his yellow jacket turned out ok, could I please get a copy. I would like to frame one and put it in his room so he will be reminded of his achievement and be inspired to keep up with the yellow jacket traits.
Have a great week!!!
Yours in Martial Arts
Mr O
