Factor10 Fly Around
Friday 14 August 2009

Greetings!

Welcome to another exciting week at the Academy.  I am very proud to say that our whole Demo squad has been invited to perform over at Tangalooma Island for an International Company in two weeks time.  I think I mentioned last week that they wanted 6 performers but after flying from Melbourne yesterday to watch the Demo team perform last night they have decided they want to take the full squad.  This is by far the biggest and most exciting challenge for the Demo squad yet.  Congratulations, I know you will make us proud!

A reminder to any parents that we are still chasing a major sponsor for our demo team to assist primarily in paying for all of the boards and tiles that they break.  If you are interested or know of anyone that may be able to help please talk to Damien or Fiona.

It is now just over one week till our first ever  Yellow Jacket Tournament being held on 23 August and again I urge all Parents to encourage your children to participate in this fun day.  As the head Instructor of our Academy I actually would expect that EVERY student participates in at least one of these tournaments on their journey to becoming a black belt.

We have just been emailed some dates of an International Sparring and Poomse event being held in Perth on weekend of 30 October - 1st November.  We would hope to send a team of both Poomse and Sparring Players to this event from all age groups and Belt levels.

As this is a National level event players will be selected to go according to their Training program and their Technical ability.  We will use the Yellow Jacket Tournament as a selection event for this Tournament.

As a minimum Juniors would be expected to be training every Friday night and 14-17yr and Adults would be expected to be training a minimum of two nights per week in Sport class.

Join us in our journey of success!!

Yours in Martial Arts

Mr O

Nomination Form

Five other local clubs have been invited as well to add some variety.

Remember the winner of the Yellow Jacket in each of the main categories is the Person who demonstrates the best Martial Arts Spirit- not necessarily the person who wins!!!

We encourage absolutely everyone to give this a go and get involved in one way or another, as we need Coaches, Judges, Referees, Computer operators and Marshalls to run the event.

Let us know if you would be interested in Volunteering to be an official of some sort on the day.
