Nutrition prior to exercise

Food prior to exercise is crucial for success
I have spoken to many Parents and students in recent weeks regarding Nutrition. It is absolutely critical to consume some sort of food either in liquid or solid form prior to exercise.
Many of our children come straight from school and have not eaten since 12.30-1.00pm. If they don't consume some afternoon tea prior to class you can expect to see tiredness, irratibility, lack of concentration, poor co ordination etc. Certainly not the frame of mind we need them in if we want them to experience great success in class.
For Adults you may need to eat 1 to 2 hours prior to exercise, but you may also experience dizziness, nausea, cramps etc if the exercise is more intense.
May I offer some ideas for both Children and Adults
- Fruit either fresh or in pre pack
- Crackers with vegemite or plain
- Sandwiches
- Sultanas and Nuts
- Sustagen drink in prepack
- Up & Go in pre pack
Please support us as we strive to help you experience great success at our Academy. If you would like any more ideas please feel free to talk to damien or myself.

Tans Tournament- 24th and 25th May

Tans Tournament is one of the biggest for the year!!
Students are training hard for what shapes as one of the biggest tournaments of the year. It looks like we will be competing against teams from New Zealand, South Australia, New South Wales, Victoria and possibly Western Australia.
This provides great challenges for our Elite Athletes and also a greater chance of a matchup for our other players.
Remember if you are thinking of entering TANS tournament you must train at Competition training on a Friday night as a minimum. Fiona and I will also make the final decision based on safety as this is a higher level competition.
All entries must be completed and handed in by Friday 9th. All payments must be made by cheque or money order and made out directly to Tans Taekwondo.
