Our 5 Core Values
The third of our Core Values is
1. Martial Arts is a life Journey. 2. Always Persist 3. Have Fun
Last week I talked a lot about persistence and how important it is to learn how to persist. This week I would like to talk about "Having Fun".
Just because it is "fun" doesn't mean we are not taking it seriously.
What it does mean that if it is a fun, enjoyable experience with as
little stress as possible we are much more likely to retain what we are
learning and stay focussed for a longer period of time.
At Brisbane Taekwondo and Hapkido Academy we insist that in order to help motivation and the desire to achieve, we need to be having "FUN". We know that not everything in life is "Fun", but if we can add this ingredient to as many parts of our life as possible it makes life easier. When the "fun" or enjoyment factor disappears we generally want to move away from the activity, job, relationship etc. Sometimes in life we are unable to control the "fun" or "enjoyment" factor of certain things, but luckily here at BTHA you don't ever have to worry. It is our job to make sure this never disappears!!

As many as 45% of teenagers are sleep deprived according to recent international research.
"Adolescents need at least 91/4 hours sleep to be able to function properly at school and for their physical and emotional develpment." Professor Barrett said. "Lack of sleep can result in poor grades, poor decision-making, and an inability to control their emotions. A lot of new neurological connections are formed during adolescence, so a lack of sleep causes teenagers to be more irratable, and exacerbates emotions such as anger and sadness"
Ensuring that young people have adequate sleep will help themto be more resilient and better able to cope with stress, which can prevent anxiety and depression.
"Primary school students need at least 9 1/2 to 10 hours sleep every night" Professor Barrett said.
The National Sleep Foundation recommends an average of 7-9 hours for an adult.
Do you get enough sleep??

Vacation Program will be held on Monday 11th April which is a student Free day for most schools.
Vacation Programs provide a great opportunity for students to mix with students across the whole club from a variety of ages. They are designed to be a fun, social day mixed with many different training activities that we don't always get time to do in classes.
Booking forms will be given out in the next two weeks prior to school holidays.
