| I hope everyone enjoyed the Club Competition on Sunday as much as I did.
We had about 80 competitors ranging in age from 4 years old through to 39 yrs old!! The greatest thrill I got was watching how our students handled the competition with such great attitude and spirit despite some bumps and bruises.
Thanks for all of the positive feed back from everyone, we can't wait till the next one.
Easter is fast approaching, remember we will be closed on Easter Friday and Easter Monday (Public Holidays)
Our second Core value is introduced today- my favourite- Always Persist. I guess I like it because it takes a great deal of patience and determination, qualities we all need in life to be successful!
Have a great week!

Our 5 Core Values
The second of our Core Values is
1. Martial Arts is a life Journey. 2. Always Persist
"Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan "press on" has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race." -Calvin Coolidge
How important is persistence? Here at Brisbane Taekwondo and Hapkido Academy we rate it as one of the most important lessons a student can learn. Not only with martial Arts but with life. You may have all of talent, you may have all of the education, you may have all of the money, but without persistence you have nothing.
Remember it is always easier to give up than to perservere and unfortunately this is what so many people do. They give up!! It is such a very common thing in todays society. We don't like our job or we find it hard, we quit. We don't like our relationships or we find them hard, we quit, we don't like our hobby, sport or we find it a bit hard we quit. Why don't we demonstrate more persistence?
Do you know anybody that has done Soccer for a year got bored, changed to Football, didn't like it, had a go at Gymnastics, changed to Golf, did Swimming, played Netball etc all before they turn nine!!!
Only about 5 % of our students make it to Black Belt- they didn't quit when it got hard. They moved on and perservered through the tough times setting themselves up with some great life skills- PERSERVERING.
Don't quit when things get tough- Perservere and become one of the special few who make it to Black Belt!!

Club Competition
Our first competition for the year was on Sunday 9th March.
Congratulations to all of our students who "gave it a go". It was one of the biggest Tournaments we've held and the first time we have had another club invited.
A big thank you to everyone that assisted with the running of the event- from the Marshalls, Judges, Computer operators, referees, coaches, recorders right through to the parents and families who had the students ready to start at 8.00am sharp.
We were scheduled to finish at 1.00pm and we finished at 12.30pm!!
Keep your eyes on the website for the photos in the coming days.
