Academy Weekly Fly Around
Wednesday 27 February 2008
How much fun did we have on Sunday at Wet n Wild??  It was absolutely fantastic.  We had almost 80 members and their Families attend and I have to say I was really impressed with the facilities and the rides.  The kids that attended haven't stopped talking about their favourites- and just to let you know my favourite was the Mack 5.  What was yours?  We will definately make it an annual event, so if you missed out this time keep your eyes open for next time.

The Senior First Aid course is being held this Sunday, and the Sparring competition applications are coming in quickly at reception.  Remember the Sparring competition is a  development opportunity which we encourage all of our members to go in, even if you only do it once, and it doesn't matter what age or belt, you will be matched up to suitable opponents.

Have a great week!!

by Damien O'Flaherty
Club Competition 8.00am-1.00pm

Our first competition for the year is on Sunday March 9th.  Application forms are being handed out in class now or you can download them off our website www.taekwondo-hapkido.com.

We have personally invited three different clubs from Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and Brisbane South.  They are very clear on the reasons and focus of our Competition and what we are trying to achieve.

zakmaeapresentation2007It is open to all students from the Little Legends through to Adults.  Students are matched on weight, age and ability and all students will participate in Round robin style competition meaning they will get a number of matches across the mroning and will also be able to watch and learn from our Australian players.

If you would like to assist with organisation on the day please leave your name at reception, we would really appreciate it.

Students will be required to have basic safety equipment of a mouth guard and arm and shin guards.  These can be purchased at reception.

Support our fundraising Activities
Every year our club runs a few fundraising activities.  We use the funds raised from these events to assist with costs involved in sending coaches to competitions and to pay for specialist seminars at our club.

The muffins are an awesome idea to freeze and use for lunchbox treats, not to mention how nice they are with a coffee!

Keep an eye on the closing date and hand in your order at reception.
New Zealand Open -28th -30th March

Tournament Squad attending New Zealand Open
Approximately twenty of our more experienced tournament players and some parents will be attending the New Zealand Open at the end of March.   The  squad is made up of both Juniors and  Seniors and will be the first international event for many of them.

girlstechnicalcompThis is a development opportunity for our players enabling them to experience a taste of international competition without the additional language or food issues that are associated with overseas travel.

Safety Reminder- Students and Families
by Fiona O'Flaherty
Compulsory- Mouthguards and Water Bottle

A reminder to all parents that it is compulsory for all Junior, Teenage and Adult students to have a mouthguard to be worn during sparring.  It is probable that students will be asked to sit out of sparring if they don't have a mouthguard.

Water Bottles are also compulsory for ALL students.  It is an essential habit that students learn to drink water whilst exercising.  The cups in the kitchen are only there for Parents and members wanting to drink tea and coffee, as we are not able to wash up after everyone that uses them for drinking water during classes!!

If possible we ask parents to keep noise to a minimum in the foyer area.  There have been a number of occassions lately where it has been difficult to teach and distracting for the students because of the noise coming from the waiting area.  Your cooperation with this would be appreciated.  We really do want the best possible learning environment for the students.
Instructor Training Course Week 2
