Academy Weekly Fly Around
Wednesday 13 February 2008
Wow!!  What a start to the year.  Attendance numbers have been up with students determined to achieve their next grading, and if you haven't noticed there are a whole lot of things happening around the club already.

Wet n Wild is on Sunday 24th with about 60 people booked in, then there is the Senior First Aid course that is being run on March 2nd, the up coming Club Tournament on March 9th, first instructor training course starting on Saturday 23rd February and we have already had our first staff meeting for the year. What an exciting, busy place we have with something on offer for everyone.

A special welcome to our newest member on Staff Nicole Hillyard who you will see on reception on Friday afternoons.

PS; A special thank you to those members who emailed to let me know how much you enjoyed our first newsletter.  Feedback is always appreciated!

National High Performance Centre - Competition Program
by Damien O'Flaherty
Invited to become a National High Performance Centre

I am really excited to announce today that we have just officially been invited to become one of approximately 20 National High Performance Centres across Australia and one of three in Queensland and the only centre in Brisbane.  This is a great reward for our Club, Coaches and Athletes.

This means that we will be able to access a variety of ideas from other coaches within the program and most importantly it means that our athletes in the competition side of our martial arts will have a more accessible pathway in to Australian teams.

Vacation Program Christmas Holidays
 by Fiona O'Flaherty
Students continue to help each other
nathanvacationpgmjan08Our Vacation program run at the conclusion of the Christmas school holidays was a huge success with students of all ages training together and passing on the knowledge they have learnt from those instructors older than them to the younger students.

The pictures tell the story.  The martial arts family tradition is alive and well within our club with the older students toddvacpgmjan08getting such a buzz out of passing on their knowledge to the other students.

A big thank you to Miss Meneguzzo and Mr Quigg for running the program.
