 Herbs

March 10th. 10 am

Basics of Herbs

Come join  us in the greenhouse as we spend an hour learning the basics of herbs. We will discuss some of the many different varieties you love, including their culinary, medicinal and gardening benefits. Class is free and herbs will be for sale afterwards along with cool-loving early spring annuals.

Learn Proper Tree and Shrub Planting Techniques

 

We will be touching on these points during this class:

  1. Proper planting depth
  2. Proper use of topsoil and compost
  3. Proper mulching
  4. Pros and cons of staking
  5. Pros and cons of leaving the burlap and basket on
  6. Use of Myke's tree and shrub product
  7. Use of root stimulator
  8. Use of fertilizers
  9. Watering practices

I will also show pruning/trimming techniques for shrubs this time of year.

 

 

Hypertufa 

 

March 24th  10 am

Create a Hypertufa Bowl

Limit 8 people please

$25-pre-register

Bring an apron, dress comfortably and wear something you won't mind getting dirty!  Join us in the greenhouse as we assemble, mix and create  a 12-inch shallow bowl that will resemble stone, yet be light-weight and sturdy in the weather.

Leave your creation with us to cure for a couple weeks, return to pick-up and receive 30% off your choice of succulents to take home and plant.

Getting Anxious! 

 
  

Here is the info on the arrivals for early spring:

 

  • First round, the week before St. Pat's will be pansies and ranunculus.
  • Second round(and weather dependent )early April :cool-loving diascia, nemesia, lobelia, alyssum, and new for 2012, several varieties of both upright and trailing fuschia. The fuschia will be really nice.
