Concert This Friday!
Hey , here is the scoop on the joint Spring Concert with Northeast High School Band - March 9th:
  • Rounders should meet in full uniform with instrument and equipment ready to play or twirl (leave cases in car) at the NEHS gym at 6:00 p.m. The gym is located on 54th Ave. N. on the WEST side of the school (near the pool).
  • We have a maximum of 30 minutes (6:00 - 6:30 p.m.) to rehearse our entrance and positioning in the gym. We MUST be done by 6:30, as the concert begins at 7:00 p.m.
  • Concert begins at 7:00 p.m. and is free admission, open to the public - bring your friends and relatives.
  • After our gym practice, we will warm up, tune, and return to the gym for seating in the bleachers to hear and support the NEHI band.
  • We will leave the gym in time to line up for our marching entrance and performance which will be about 7:45 p.m.
  • We will be done around 8:20 p.m.
But first...come to rehearsal Tuesday with the last of your "rough spots" solved in personal practice. We have a lot to do to perfect the sound and balance.

As NEHI is a public school, there can be no smoking on campus, including the parking lots. "Doodling": Band policy is that musicians should refrain from tooting horns or banging drums except when we all play. After the concert...you're all invited to Ferg's in St. Pete!   

Many of you graduated from Northeast. Let's show our support and give them a rousing performance!

Oh Savannah!:

Oh what a trip this will be! Are you excited yet??

***Payment for the Savannah Bus and Cruise are due THIS TUESDAY! (final,final!). Don't lose your place...please bring your check to rehearsal!

***Lee Lafleur is looking for an individual or two (ok, 4-5 would be great!) to help him with the hospitality suite in Savannah. Minimal time requirements (shifts)...but necessary to keep all the Rounders "Happy" at "Happy Hour." Please contact Lee at Lee@Lafleur.us. Please...we can use your help!!

THURSDAY, MARCH 15

7:00AM - Buses load at the 1st Baptist Church, 1900 Gandy Blvd; St. Petersburg, FL 33702

7:30AM - Buses depart for Savannah

The buses will first go to the Inn at Ellis Square, then the Marriott Riverfront. Arrangements are being made for the Holiday Inn.

 

SATURDAY, MARCH 17 - ST. PATRICK'S DAY PARADE

BUS #1:- 8:30AM- pick up passengers at Holiday Inn Express and proceed to parade

BUS#2 - 8:30AM pick up passengers and guard equipment at Inn at Ellis Square and proceed to parade

Stand-up concert on Riverfront immediately after returning to Inn at Ellis Square.

One bus returns passengers to Holiday Inn Express after concert.

 

SUNDAY, MARCH 18 - Return to St. Petersburg

BUS #1: 9:00AM - Pick up passengers at Marriott Waterfront, then to proceed to Inn at Ellis Square.

BUS#2: 9:00AM pick up passengers at Inn at Ellis Square

LAST CALL for Board Elections Tuesday:
Each season our Rounders Board seeks new team members to replace those whose term
have come to an end. Terms are typically three years with members needing have performed with the Rounders at minimum two seasons (including this one) to be eligible.

 

If you are interested in the continued success of your Second Time Arounders, please contact Melissa Mince at mgmcat@aol.com with the heading "Board Candidate" for consideration of nomination for election. A short (100 word or so) bio is also appreciated in candidacy. Elections will be Tuesday!

30th Anniversary Party: Tickets for our 30th Anniversary party at the TradeWinds on St.Pete Beach May 4th and 5th are available now! $30.00 gets you BOTH parties whether you are staying at the hotel, or not! This will be the beach-bash to end all beach-bashes! Available at the pre-rehearsal table!   "Let Yourself Go!"

Progressing Nicely!:     

Our Progressive Concert for March 31st is shaping up with two very fine venues to perform. The DeSoto "Seafood Fest" in nearby Bradenton with over 20,000 people expected and the Gulfport "Spring Fest" expecting nearly 10,000! This will be the first of what looks to be a new annual Rounder highlight...our Progressive Concert Day!


 For the concerts we will leave Tropicana Field at 10:00 AM on the buses heading for Bradenton.  All need to ride the buses, since parking is NOT easily available at theses two venues.  If you are playing/twirling, you need to ride the bus....no private cars please!

 

Buses for members will be free. Tagalongs (spouses, kids, etc.) are at a cost of $10.00 each and are welcome and encouraged.  Band members in uniform ride FREE.  WeSeafood Festival expect 100% participation. We will get back to Ferg's around 4:00 p.m. and have a congratulatory party at that time. Your Shepherds will be fine-tuning the tally on Tuesday so bring your count!

Uniform and Uniformity!
With our 30th Anniversary AND our brand new official band shirts, our goal as a band is to LOOK as good as we SOUND so ... we are restating our standards with regard to uniform compliance. 

We are not creating any NEW uniform policies but we will be more Lynnstringent about compliance.  You can find a complete list of uniform components on the Rounders website, as well as what is required in order to perform.   
 
Please be sure to read through this section of the website Uniform Guidelines 
to be sure you have what's needed to perform.   

Each individual band member is responsible for having the correct uniform components. Auxiliary should speak to their leads to make sure they know what is required.

We are taking orders for our fantastic new 30TH Anniversary tee-shirts this week!  Commemorating band trips taken during our 30 year history, this tee-shirt makes a wonderful keepsake!    

 

The cost for the shirts is $18 or $20 for sizes XXL and larger. WeTee SHirt Design

will only order shirts for people who have pre-ordered and paid - there will be no extra shirts ordered so be sure to order yours.
