Musicians and Auxiliary welcomed alike (bring along a recorder for the tunes you'll be dancing and twirling to!). New members...welcome! Please bring a music stand and head to the cafeteria. A slight chance we'll redirect you to the band room (not determined as of this writing). Northeast High School is at . All are invited to Harvey's 4th Street Grill afterwards (3121 4th Street North**St. Petersburg).
Come create the sounds that will fuel the sights of our Rounders Thirtieth Year. We'll talk a little business and run through this season's tunes! |

Save time and save paper with our Rounders electronic registration. All Rounders are asked to Register by Sunday, January 8th!
Please:
1. "Log in" to the Rounder web site - www.SecondTimeArounders.org (bottom right of home page)
2. On the Member Menu: print 3 documents (letter, calendar, registration)
3. Check all the information "pre-populated" on your Registration Form
4. Sign your Registration/Release Form
5. Decide on a donation - Check or online payments (PayPal or credit card)
6. Mail your form and donation to:

About the recommended Rounders donation:
In order to help support the life of this organization, please include a recommended donation of $25.00 (or more if you care to) with your registration.
Your donations support your Rounders season activities and help pay for items such as postage, printing, meeting supplies, website hosting, insurance, facility rental for rehearsal, professional fees, instrument repair, regulatory filing fees, etc, etc.
We simply cannot survive as an organization without your help...so thank you in advance for your support!

30th Season Is Here!
Greetings!
It's shaping-up to be a fantastic season for our Thirtieth year. Do you remember what YOU were doing thirty years ago?
So what's up at age thirty? A major recruiting push is underway for old (ok, previously participating) Rounders and for new ones alike; possibly some born in 1983! Haven't been in the band in a while...well, Join Us!

On the scheduling-front your Rounders will first meet next week (Jan 3) for our pre-season music run-through. By that time your Drumline  will have already rehearsed 4-5 rehearsals on the new cadence for 2012 (they started in October)! Beginning January 24th your Auxiliary rehearsals begin, just before our Chili Cook Off and Rounders get-together at Ferg's on February 4th!
Full band rehearsals begin Valentine's Day, Tuesday February 14 (did you know many Rounders couples met in band?) with our outdoor marching rehearsal on Tuesday, March 13. Performances for 2012 include: A joint concert at Northeast High School Friday, March 9.This year's trip to Savannah, GA for one of the largest St. Patrick's Day Parades in the Country March 15-18. The Festival of States night Parade Thursday, March 22nd followed on Saturday by the well attended Chasco Fiesta Parade March 24 in New Port Richey. Friday, April 6th will  bring a "First Friday" performance in downtown St. Petersburg with a "Progressive Concert" event (tentative and being worked on) and season finale party tentatively planned for Saturday, April 7.
Your Rounders will then officially celebrate our 30th Anniversary at the TradeWinds Island Resort in St. Petersburg Saturday and Sunday May 5th & 6th...an event you won't want to miss even...so book your room!
All the planning in the world by the creative staff and Rounders board alike achieve nothing without your participation. Mark your calendars and plan to be an active part of this incredible organization in our 30th year; YOUR Second Time Arounders Marching Band.

Savannah 2012: Our Savannah St Patrick's Day Weekend trip is filling-up fast...but there's still room for YOU to book a room! Details can be found on our website at the following link:

30th Anniversary Celebration: We have reserved 25 additional SUITES at the the Tradewinds Sandpiper Beach Resort for our 3oth Anniversary Celebration May 5th and 6th. This will be much more comfortable (and highly recommended) for  those band members with 3 or 4 in a room. Reservations can be made by calling 1-800-808-9833. Remember to reference the "Second Time Arounders May 4-6" dates for your $159.00 rate! Don't miss the 30th! This will be the "social event" of your Rounders season!" Key West 2013! In case you missed it, your Rounders will be returning to Key West Florida during the Spring of 2013. Parade and Concert in the Conch Republic. Here's the announcement video shown at the Holiday Party earlier this month. Key West Announcement Video.
Bring a Friend!: We talk about it a lot but this season, bring a friend to join the Ro unders! In order for our numbers to remain strong we need a membership "push" every few years and this is that year. More specific information will come out in future newsletters but please target them toward our "New Members Orientation" event Thursday, January 12th at the Hangar Restaurant, Albert Whitted Airport, in St. Pete (see calendar). You enjoy this fine organization...won't they?

Musical Petting Zoo Returns
|
Another New Year's Eve...and another opportunity for the Rounders "MUSICAL PETTING ZOO." As part of St. Petersburg's Family Friendly  New Year's celebration, your Rounders are again sponsoring our annual Musical Petting Zoo Saturday, December 31 at The Pier from 4:45-8:00 PM.
All that's missing right now...is YOU!
Share your love of music with the children of St. Pete. Looking for volunteers to help children try out instruments, most for the first time, and incite their urge to join a band in their school. All musicians welcome but in particular please we're looking for "masters" of the Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, and Trombone.
Instruments are provided; the only thing you need to bring...is YOU!
Friends, family, non-Rounders, all are also welcome to participate. In addition to helping these kids try an instrumen t for the first time, we also need volunteers for crowd control (yes, it gets busy), as well as to help clean mouthpieces and control the giggles and smiles between tweets.
When the kids (and even their parents) "play" their first notes, they often provide BIG smiles. What a terrific way to kick off your New Year's Eve as you'll be smiling the rest of the night just thinking about them.
