San Diego Unified Superintendent Search Town Hall Meetings
San Diego Unified is searching for a new Superintendent to become a partner with the Board of Education and the community in the district's on-going efforts to increase student achievement.
The Board of Education is seeking a leader who can help to implement its vision for the future that is articulated in the Vision 2020 Statement and a statement of midterm goals. The District's next Superintendent will share the board's commitment to this vision for the future of the San Diego Unified School District.
The Board has launched a search and selection process that will include broad community involvement. The goal is to attract highly qualified candidates who will share the board's vision and who can be a successful leader in an educational environment that promotes and encourages community engagement.
The search process begins in March, 2010, with the Superintendent Search Advisory Committee conducting a series of open meetings to develop a set of skills and values sought in the next superintendent. The Search Committee will also host a series of five town-hall meetings, one in each sub-district, to seek public comment on the quality sought in the next Superintendent and comment on the Board's Vision 2020. Following these Town Hall meetings, the next task of the Search Committee will be to conduct a preliminary screen of the applications received and make a recommendation to the Board of a set of candidates to interview.

Since 2004, the San Diego Healing Arts Festival has been San Diego's premiere health and wellness festival, bringing the best in live music together with an accessible arena for people to experience integrative healing arts. This event offers classes in healthy practices (such as yoga, Qi Gong, and meditation,) massage and energy healing treatments, demonstrations in martial arts and dance, and exhibitors of healthy foods and practices from around the globe. By combining these healthy practices with music, (one of the greatest healing arts in the World) we have made what may once have been foreign concepts, into easily accessible additions to daily life. Our friends at the Adams Avenue Business Associationhave invited us to host a scaled-down version of our popular event to coincide and blend with their annual "Roots Fest on Adams". We are happy to announce that over the weekend of April 24-25th, we will be producing the Healing Arts Fest on Adams! |
