LA VOZ CP

Friends,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce our newest community partner, El Pollo Grill located at Market Creek Plaza.

Over the years El Pollo Grill has supported our community through a variety of efforts. Those efforts included hosting fundraisers for over 10 schools in South East San Diego and local youth sports. Providing warm meals for local families in need and gift cards to local organizations.  Hosting fundraisers in support of families with cancer, Tijuana food toys, and clothing drives, and participating in C.S. Keys Bikes for Kids effort.

Please join me in supporting our newest partner by stopping by for lunch or dinner. Below you will find a coupon specific to our La  Voz readers. El Pollo Grill this month has launched a new more affordable menu that allows you to feed a family of four for under $10 Dollars!

Gracias,

Healthy & Affordable Dining for the Whole Family

El Pollo Grill is located at Market Creek Plaza, near the corner of Market Street and Euclid Avenue, just south of Hwy. 94.

Enjoy the great-tasting, authentic south-of-the-border fare in a location that's easy-to-reach, easy-to-park, and easy to enjoy. Art lovers will really enjoy this location, that tops off great food with great atmosphere and the beauty of a hand-painted dome (link) filled with images from life in Jalisco, the Mexican state that's home to the Lopez family, owners of El Pollo Grill.

The Dome at El Pollo Grill

When you step inside El Pollo Grill, be sure to look up and feast your eyes on the magnificent dome. Designed and painted by local artist Sal Barajas, it is separated into five sections, each level and section adorned with imagery from the owners home Mexican state of Jalisco.Deceptive in size, the painted panels cascade from the 5' 2" diameter center piece down to the bottom sections, each 15' X 9'.

Creating the dome was detailed and tedious work. Images from sketches were applied to a prototype painting made in a bowl, then enlarged with photocopying, and enlarged again using an overhead projector. To keep the scale and angles uniform, Barajas hand-made a large compass to set the lines of each section. Due to the limitations of the hydraulic lift used as a platform, the work was completed in 10' sections.Images were outlined using tracing paper backed with graphite powder, then outlined in black paint. Each image was hand-painted by Barajas and his son, Sal Barajas, Jr., using acrylic paint to create vibrant colors and graduated tones. Color selection also reflects the distinct exterior of Market Creek Plaza.
