State Policy Analyst & Redistricting Manager
LOS ANGELES The National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials
 

The State Policy Analyst and Redistricting Manager is responsible for implementing the organization's outreach and technical assistance program to encourage Latino civic leaders to apply to serve on California's Citizens Redistricting Commission. The State Policy Analyst will also provide technical assistance for the organization's efforts to promote Latino participation in California's 2011 redistricting process. The State Policy Analyst's responsibilities also include policy development tasks related to California governance and election issues that affect the Latino community, including the following: writing advocacy and public opinion documents; lobbying in state legislatures; analyzing ballot measure, legislative and administrative activity; disseminating information to the NALEO Educational Fund constituency; and developing and strengthening relationships with public officials who are responsible for governance and election policies, as well as members of coalitions and advocacy organizations working on similar public policy issues. While the State Policy Analyst's responsibilities will focus primarily on California issues, he/she will be expected to acquire a general knowledge of governance and election issues affecting Latino political access nationally and in other states. The State Policy Analyst will carry out all of the foregoing responsibilities under the direction and guidance of the organization's Senior Director of Policy, Research and Advocacy. This is a full-time position, with a salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

High School Coordinator Job Description
 
 
· Responsible for organizing, coordinating and overseeing all aspects of the High School
College Preparation Program, as well as provide support/work in connection with the
Middle School Program/College Success Program
· Recruit and admit new students as appropriate.
· Work withPrograms Director/College Success Coordinator/Middle School Coordinator to
schedule, train, and supervise paid and volunteer tutors.
· Plan and implement fieldtrips, workshops, career days, conference visits, and college trips.
· Assist students (or connect with existing resources when possible and necessary) with all
aspects of the college application process to include SAT preparation, scholarship
identification, recommendations, financial aid support, etc.
· Serve as a resource to students and parents including addressing individual obstacles to
academic success, serving as a liaison to the schools, teachers, and community as related to
the High School Program.
· Foster a productive yet fun environment for students.
· Meet with individual families to set and/or review report cards, goals, and academic plan for
college twice per year.
· Ongoing case management with students to ensure that student folders are kept up to date;
track attendance to all BLCI functions programming, collect and track student report cards
(and progress reports as needed) to determine attendance requirements
· Work with Programs Director to complete and implement standardized pre and post
evaluation and assessment mechanisms to ensure that the program has measurable and definitive results (occurring both at the beginning and end of program year as well as for
workshops and field trips).
· Assisting the Executive Director and Programs Director with fund-raising, public relations,
and other functions as deemed appropriate
· Participate in the one on one or group tutoring.
· Participate in staff meetings on a weekly basis and assist with BLCI functions such as
parent meetings, etc. as needed
· Maintain a clean and safe environment/facility

Finance Director


The Finance Director is responsible for all financial matters of City Heights Community Development Corporation. The Finance Director will report to and work closely with the Executive Director. In addition, s/he will partner with the senior leadership and the board of directors to develop and implement strategies across the organization. The Finance Director will oversee all compliance and reporting for government contracts and private grants. S/he must be able to adapt to a continually evolving environment and thrive in an autonomous and deadline-oriented workplace while managing the finance staff. Mid-City CAN
Youth Community Organizer
 
Identify City Heights Youth with strong leadership qualities and assist them in advocating for institutional and social change. Organize, develop and sustain the youth leadership and education program (Mid-City CAN Youth Council). Conduct outreach to schools, agencies, and collaborative partners that service youth to recruit Mid-City CAN Youth Council participants. In collaboration with collaborative partners, develop and facilitate leadership development for community youth related to community organizing, grassroots advocacy, and other relevant topics. Assist in the development of Mid-City CAN Youth Council goals and objectives. Provide supervision, mentorship, and guidance to the Mid-City CAN Youth Council. Clearly articulate the efforts of Mid-City CAN and our community development strategy. Work with youth and Mid-City CAN/SAY Staff in developing and implementing fundraising strategies. 
 
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Youth Development, Social Work, and /or Commensurate Experience in Community Organizing and Working With Youth in a collaborative context. Bilingual (Somali or Vietnamese) Required. Familiar with Youth Development and Community Organizing Theories as well as experienced in policy development and advocacy. Demonstrated effectiveness in working with youth.

Coalition for Community Safety Coordinator 
 
The Center for Constitutional Rights seeks a part-time campaign coordinator to coordinate work performed under the Coalition for Community Safety (CCS) 2009-2011 campaign plan.  This is a two-year non-recurring position. The CCS work requires coordinating a New York City coalition working to increase transparency and accountability of the NYPD to New York City communities and individuals through legislative and policy reform. The position will coordinate and assist with coalition building efforts, research, communications strategy, campaign launch and statewide outreach. The part-time campaign coordinator will work closely with CCS members, members of CCR's legal and communications teams and the Racial Justice & Government Misconduct Associate.
 
Compensation: This part-time position is a salaried position for 20 hours per week.  This position is a two-year grant-funded position and is non-recurring. Salary is commensurate with experience and subject to union collective b argaining agreement. Benefits include pension plan, escalating vacation beginning with three weeks, sick leave, holidays, and 100% organization paid health benefits for employees including medical, dental, life and long-term disability insurance.
