The 1st Annual Grape Stomp, presented by Barrio Logan Winery, will take place on Saturday, November 14th from 12:00 - 6:00 PM. In addition, the team that has the most supporters in attendance (paid event ticket) will be eligible for an additional $150 prize to a non-profit of their choice. Throughout the day, spectators will enjoy music by local musicians Chunky and Company, and Son Sin Fronteras as well as an art exhibit featuring local artwork on display courtesy of La Onda Arte Latino. This is a 21+ event, and the price of general admission includes a complete meal and beverage.
General Admission is $15 per person at the door; $12 individual tickets, and $10 per ticket group rate when purchasing ten (10) or more tickets. Event tickets can be purchased online at www.barriologanwinery.com or at Latte Mi Corazon located at 129 25th Street.

Equality Alliance Phone Banking-Volunteers Needed.
The Equality Alliance is in the middle of a 5 week program to survey San Diegans about budget and immigration issues. With the help of paid canvassers working 5 days a week, we will survey 12,500 people by the end of the 5 weeks. The results so far, especially on the immigration questions, are fascinating. Volunteer for 1 or 2 days to hear for yourself what people are saying. Your contribution as a volunteer will help us supplement our paid program and provide us with valuable information. Volunteers will receive a quick training before using our state-of-the-art predictive dialing system. Can you help? Thursday, Nov. 12th: 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm Because the predictive dialing system only works when all phone stations are working at once, it's important that volunteers are able to stay the whole time. If anyone arrives late or leaves early, the system won't function properly. As an incentive for helping us out, we will provide yummy food and refreshments Please let me know as soon as possible if you are able to volunteer for either or both days. Please forward to other potential volunteers. Thanks! Andrea Guerrero andiguerrero@gmail.com |

Vigil at the San Diego Border
Monday November 9th noon
Join us on your lunch hour! Take Hwy 5 South, exit Dairy Mart Road, turn right (west) and follow the winding road to the entrance to the park. Meet at 12 noon to DRIVE IN to Friendship Park, which will be made accessible to vehicles at this hour. Friendship Park Vigil 20th Anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall Border Field State Park Sponsored by Friends of Friendship Park www.friendshippark.org
contacts: John Fanestil 619-823-6223
Dan Watman 619-954-9710
Enrique Morones 619-977-9467
One Wall Falls another Rises On this historic anniversary, Border Patrol construction crews have created a limited "public access area" inside Friendship Park that would prevent visitors on the U.S. side from drawing closer than five feet to the international boundary. A sign posted at the entrance to the park lists "rules for entry," among them, "Physical contact with individuals in Mexico is not permitted." Go here to see photos. Local coalition leaders are calling for a new design allowing visitors easily to see, hear and touch each other at the historic border park.
Please join us for a silent vigil in tribute to the courage of those who caused the Berlin Wall to fall and in distress over today's dehumanizing wall that shatters relationships. People at Friendship Park can't even touch each other. This kind of human contact is essential to creating friendships on which the true security of our region depends. We will have a short silent meditation and then share songs or poems.
Stay for 20 minutes or stay for an hour, but bring proof of legal residency!
