BARRIO LOGAN WINERY PRESENTS GRAPE STOMP
IN HISTORIC BARRIO DISTRICT
Winner of 1ST Annual Competition to Benefit Local Non-Profit

The 1st Annual Grape Stomp, presented by Barrio Logan Winery, will take place on Saturday, November 14th from 12:00 - 6:00 PM. Held in the heart of the Historic Barrio District, this event celebrate s the new harvest by bringing together a unique blend of old and new traditions, with live music , great food , local art, and the signature event - a competitive grape stomp.
The event begins with a ceremonial Aztec Blessing of the winery and vats of freshly picked grapes. Elsa Sevilla, TV Host/Producer of "San Diego's Historic Places" on KPBS, is the MC for the event. The competition, which attracted twelve teams for its inaugural event, consists of each team competing to produce the most juice with their bare feet. The grand prize for the overall winning team is a $300 check made payable to the non-profit of their choice. In addition, the team that has the most supporters in attendance (paid event ticket) will be eligible for an additional $150 prize to a non-profit of their choice. Throughout the day, spectators will enjoy music by local musicians Chunky and Company, and Son Sin Fronteras as well as an art exhibit featuring local artwork on display courtesy of La Onda Arte Latino. This is a 21+ event, and the price of general admission includes a complete meal and beverage.

General Admission is $15 per person at the door; $12 individual tickets, and $10 per ticket group rate when purchasing ten (10) or more tickets. Event tickets can be purchased online at www.barriologanwinery.com or at Latte Mi Corazon located at 129 25th Street.

About The Barrio Logan Winery
The Barrio Logan Winery is located in the TSI Facility at 3030 Main Street , San Diego 92113 - just east of the Navy Exchange Complex - and not yet open to the general public. We purchase our Mexican grapes from vineyards located in El Valle de Guadalupe in Baja California. The grapes are then processed at our facility in Barrio Logan to produce a low sulfite wine. Although the wine is not currently available for purchase, the Barrio Logan Winery has partnered with several non-profit organization through event sponsorship and wine donations, with proceeds supporting the Urban Corps of San Diego in the restoration of several artistic murals onsite. WHAT IS LA VOZ? La Voz is a personal e-mail list that over the last 14 years has worked towards keeping the San Diego non-profit, Latino, and community at large connected . It consists of e-mail contacts that include students, educators, elected officials and their representatives, media, organizers and activist, clergy, non-profit executive directors, and business leaders. La Voz consists of three weekly e-mails consisting of community events, grant and funding opportunities, and job opportunities. Additionally La Voz reserves the right to send out ocassional e-mails on behalf of its community partners and sponors. The majority of the e-mails are San Diego based but are increasingly becoming more diverse in geographic origin and relevance.The e-mails sent out are done as a free service and are not connected to any particular organization. | |
