MORE ABOUT THE URBAN LEAGUE
Since 1953, the Urban League of San Diego County has served the people of San Diego County, reaching out not only to African Americans, but to people of all colors, ages and beliefs for whom the playing field is not yet level. For over more than four decades, the League has helped an estimated 445,000 individuals achieve social and economic equality. Several decades after the Urban League movement was created, and with a new century upon us, we find ourselves equally challenged to protect those we are pledged to serve. The Urban League of San Diego County embraces a "hands-up" philosophy that focuses on providing opportunities that support individual and family development as well as increased self-sufficiency. The mission and values of the Urban League of San Diego provides a yardstick against which all decisions, strategies and performances are measured. Our three service areas: Education & Family Services; Workforce Development; and Urban Housing offer a broad range of programs and services and carry on the legacy of our founders.
