Teen Producers Needed! 
FALL 2009 - October through December/ Saturday Video Class! Learn How to Make a Video!

MEDIA ARTS CENTER SAN DIEGO's Teen Producers Project in partnership with the Environmental Health Coalition are proud to announce an exciting series of video classes this Fall.  The MEDIA ARTS CENTER SAN DIEGO will be producing a video focusing on SALTA, Salud Ambiental Lideres Tomando Accion, a community leadership program of the Environmental Health Coalition.  You and a group of teens (ages 13-18) will learn to research, produce, and edit an 8-10 minute short documentary.  Sign up today for a FREE Saturday production, education, and training program designed to document the importance of education and leadership in spreading awareness of environemental justice. Classes begin at the Media Arts Center San Diego on October 3rd and run through mid-December.

3rd Annual Lifetime Achievement Awards Gala & Dinner
 
The Board of Directors, staff and volunteers of the United African American Ministerial Action Council (UAAMAC) are pleased to announce the 2010 Award Honorees who will be featured at their 3rd Annual Lifetime Achievement Awards Gala and Dinner  at the Bethel Baptist Church Campus located at 1962 Euclid Avenue.  The event will take place Thursday, October 29, 2009, 6:30 - 9:30 p.m.
 
This year's Lifetime Achievement Honorees are Brother Baye Kes Ba-Me-Ra, Kichwa,  Founder and President of the Pan-African Association of America; the Reverend Ikenna A. Kokayi, Junior Pastor Christ Church of San Diego; Robert and Dolores McNeely, Executive and Senior Vice-Presidents of Union Bank of California, respectively; Mildred Neal, Founding Member, San Diego Delta Foundation and the Reverend Dr. John Ringgold, Senior Pastor, Bethel Baptist Church.
 
A ticket price for this memorable event is $50 and tables of eight can be purchased for $400.  Proceeds for this event will be used to support UAAMAC's prisoner reentry and its community organizing and advocacy efforts. The United African American Ministerial Action Council (UAAMAC) is committed to the construction of a Beloved Communityof justice, equitable access to opportunities in the pursuit of happiness, education, economic development, family stability, health, peace and prosperity for all people.

SD Latino Film Festival Continues with Cine En tu Idioma
 
San Diego Latino Film Festival continues the 10th Annual 2009 Cinema en Tu Idioma Film Series showcasing two critically acclaimed Latin American feature films. This month will feature screenings of the Argentinean film LEONERA and the Chilean film TONY MANERO, October 9-15 at UltraStar Mission Valley Cinemas at Hazard Center (off 163 Freeway & Friars Rd.). 2010 Regional Youth Art Competition
 
The San Diego International Airport Art Program is holding the 2010 Regional Youth Aviation Art Competition: Aviation in The Global Marketplace. San Diego County resident students grades K-12 are encouraged to participate. The purpose of the competition is to stimulate student's interest in aviation careers and increase public awareness of the benefits of aviation and aero space along with global trade and commerce. Entries must be postmarked by January 10, 2010. 9th Annual Tijuana Tequila Festival

Latino Portrait Project
Call for Entries

Latino Portrait is a project encouraging people in the Americas to share their vision of who they are. It is also a venue to show what Latino/as produced in audio visual terms. Made a personal essay, a short story, a video inteview or video-collage, anything you want (use photos, real footage, mix them, etc.). Contestants may enter by submitting a five (5) minute video (maximun) to the Latino Portrait Project.

The selected videos will be screened previous to the films participating in the 2009 NC Latin American Film Festival, on November 2009.
