Regional Task Force on the Homeless 
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Regional Task Force on the Homeless, Inc, a San Diego-based nonprofit organization, is seeking a motivated, dynamic executive director to carry forward the recently adopted strategic initiatives and plan. Responsibilities include:
� Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the organization
� Administering an annual budget in excess of $ 1M
� Taking a leadership role in strategic and long-range planning and implementation

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
� 5+ years in successful nonprofit leadership as an executive director or manager
� An understanding of and sensitivity for the issues related to homelessness;
� Proven ability to plan, execute and evaluate large projects and special events;
� Proven ability in nonprofit fundraising from corporations, foundations, gov't;
� Experience in organizational planning;
� Ability to interact with federal, state and local government agencies and community based organizations; and
� Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

CIVIL RIGHTS COALITION PROJECT COORDINATOR

The Equal Justice Society (EJS), a civil rights strategy group dedicated to removing barriers to equal opportunity, is looking for a project coordinator to assist the implementation of a joint
workplan with the California Coalition for Civil Rights (CaCCR).
The position is a one-year, temporary staff position at EJS.
The coordinator will receive the same benefits as other EJS employees, including health and dental coverage, sick leave, accrued vacation and other benefits. The position will report directly to EJS President Eva Paterson or her designee. EJS has created this position in order to provide certain services to the coalition. The project coordinator will be expected to assist EJS and CaCCR to: 1) understand, through comprehensive, state-wide scanning and/or mapping, the capacity of CACCR and its member organizations within the coalition; 2) determine priority areas in which to focus the coalition through the results of the mapping; 3) contribute to the ongoing development of a workplan for addressing the agreed upon priority areas; and 4) help sustain and further develop mechanisms for providing coordination and technical assistance to CaCCR.
The coordinator will be expected to work independently,
travel extensively within the State of California and possess good organizational and relationship skills.
Candidates should demonstrate a familiarity with the
California civil rights community through past experience and should be an experienced project coordinator. Computer and technical literacy regarding the web, database management and office systems are required.

The OPPORTUNITY: Barrio Logan College Institute (BLCI) is seeking a full-time Executive Director dedicated to promoting equal opportunity for under-represented students. The overall responsibility of our Executive Director is to build and lead the Barrio Logan College Institute so that it 1) provides excellent service to its students who are attempting to get on the college track, and 2) increases BLCI's success at breaking the cycle of poverty for its graduates.
 
Our Organization: Founded in 1995, Barrio Logan College Institute (BLCI) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting equal opportunity by helping under-represented students from low-income communities gain access to college, establish their careers and give back to the Barrio Logan community. Based in the Barrio Logan area of San Diego, BLCI is a forward-looking institution offering after-school programs to elementary, middle school and high school students. BLCI also provides ongoing support to their BLCI scholars who are currently attending college. Through after-school learning, mentorship, parent participation programs, and scholarship programs, BLCI works towards its mission of providing students and their families with the skills and resources necessary to make the dream of graduating from college a reality. Key Responsibilities: The Executive Director is responsible for the overall institute; its program, and financial performance, and the quality of its relationships with the Barrio Logan and San Diego communities.
1) Works closely with the Board to develop and implement BLCI's long term strategic plan.

2) Directs the day-to-day operations including managing staff, programs, financial and legal affairs, organization-sponsored events, public relations, marketing and outreach.

3) Brings momentum to external relations, development and fundraising efforts to support the current organizational budget and long term financial plan. Provides the face and voice for BLCI in the San Diego business and Barrio Logan communities.

4) Enriches programs to meet academic achievement and rigor standards set for elementary, middle and high school levels. Ensures enhancements benefit progress made by students through to secondary education.
 
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:We require our Executive Director to have a deep commitment to BLCI's mission, values and program goals, including a connection to economically disadvantaged populations and the Latino culture. He or she should demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of running a nimble nonprofit organization, think strategically, plan well and identify challenges and opportunities and address them. The successful candidate will hold high standards for ethics and accountability and demonstrate outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills. Our Executive Director must be team oriented and have superior written and verbal communication skills and be able to manage multiple tasks with very little supervision.
 
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in Nonprofit Leadership, Business, Public Administration, Education or related field preferred
 
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: Experience typically comes from demonstrated competent performance in similar settings. Required:
-3-5 years management experience required.
-Bilingual in Spanish required
-Experience working with non-profit organizations in a leadership role
-Accomplished background in fundraising and development
-Demonstrated experience managing within budget and following sound financial practices
 
Preferred: Familiarity with Barrio Logan community a plus
Work experience in educational settings
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite.
