Reports to the Executive Director via Program Manager
Position: Part-time         Salary: $ 16,000 Annually
 
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Under the Supervision of the Program Manager the Media Specialist is responsible for providing support services to the Community Collaboration for Economics and Social Change Members, Program Participants and Volunteers.
The Media Specialist must serve as a role model and at all times exhibit appropriate cultural concerns and commitment to the alcohol, tobacco and other drug abuse prevention for at risk populations, particularly youth.
The Media Specialist will provide general assistance to the Program Manager in meeting the contractual goals and objectives.
 
PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:
The Media Specialist must be a person of integrity, honest, committed and have a comprehensive understanding of, and the ability to relate in a positive way to African-Americans, Latinos and other ethnic groups, low income persons, as well as other Central and Southeastern San Diego residents.  Must be creative, energetic, culturally aware, and communicate effectively with different ethnic groups, must be open to new ideas and follow directives.

Compensation:  $12 - $15 per hour
Reports To:  Director of Institutional Development
 
 
Objectives: To assist in achieving audience development and financial goals of the Institutional Development Department by working extensively with cultural, professional, social and educational groups to set up experiences at the theatre that will generate exposure and income for San Diego REP. 
 
Responsibilities:
-Identify groups by researching in organizational directories, the Internet, contacting groups with previous history with San Diego REP, calling churches, educational institutions, etc.
-Contact groups by telephone, mail and personal visits
-Prepare letters/information kits for group leaders, eblasts as needed (with assistance from in-house graphic designer) and presentations for groups
-Organize group events at the theatre to generate income and expose new audiences to San Diego REP
-Attend group events as needed
-Achieve group sales income goals for each production
-Follow up with all groups to thank them and obtain feedback on their group experience; capture all contact information and maintain group sales list.
 
Job Qualifications:Must be extremely self-motivated, goal oriented and able to work independently as well as with the Institutional Development team.  Must be personable and outgoing and love working with people from varied social and cultural backgrounds. Enjoyment of theatre is a definite plus.  Organizational skills and both written and verbal communication skills are critical.  The work schedule is flexible and includes some evening and weekend work.  Sales experience is not necessary, however the job has revenue goals and requires an individual who can meet these goals.

We are looking for two talented and detail-oriented interns with excellent
communication skills. The ideal candidates will be bilingual and thrive in a fast-paced environment, adhere to tight deadlines and bring a fresh creative perspective to our team.

These positions provide an opportunity for growth while working with other creative professionals in public relations. The interns will help design a contest from concept
through final launch. Projects will include planning contest, partner development and managing social media content on the contest.
