Greetings!

Pedro Danza
For the last 12 years my family and I have been truly blessed to be part of Danza Mexicayotl and the Mexi'cayotl Indio Cultural Center (MICC). MICC is dedicated to teaching and preserving the indigenous cultures of Mxico and the southwestern United States and to bringing knowledge of our living traditions back to our communities.

This weekend Danza Mexi'cayotl will host its 29th annual danza ceremony at Chicano Park. Focussed on honoring our traditions, our elders, and the family this years ceremony will host over 100 dancers from throughout the world.

The weekend will begin with the Ensayo Real, a sort of dress rehearsal that serves to unite the dancers in preparation for the rest of the weekend. Saturday evening we welcome the dozens of groups who will join us with a dinner and the official opening ceremony filled with music and traditions passed on for generations. On Sunday we will convene at Chicano Park where Hundreds of dancers in full regalia will dance as has been done for the last 29 years. Finally we will close our annual ceremony with dinner at King Chavez Academy..

If you have the time this weekend please join us. If you have a little more time we could definitely use your help. To the left is a list of some of our volunteer needs. I hope to see you this weekend, it always helps to be able to look around as you dance and see those you love and care for. After 2-3 hours of dancing those familiar faces keep you focused and give you that much needed energy to to continue for the ramining hours.
