Executive Director, La Cuna

The Executive Director is the Chief Executive Officer of La Cuna, Inc. The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors, and is responsible for the organization's consistent achievement of its mission and financial objectives. Starting date: July 1.

La Cuna is seeking to strengthen its model by adding leadership through the identification of an Executive Director to work full time with the founder. This is a best practice for a nonprofit after the founder has been running an organization for 5 years or more (in our case 6). The founder will train the Executive Director full time for one month (as a volunteer), and then part time (still volunteer) on an ongoing basis. The founder will provide leadership from that perspective, joining the Board of Directors, continuing to fundraise, working in tandem with the ED, attending key meetings as solicited by the ED, and otherwise working on the sidelines to support the ED.

La Cuna is a dynamic, entrepreneurial organization, providing a critical service as the ONLY organization in San Diego focused primarily on Latino foster children. La Cuna further focuses its efforts where they can be leveraged for the greatest good: the birth-to-five population.

La Cuna has a very strong track record of success: 96% of our children have gotten their needs met, finding all the stability and care they need to form healthy attachments, and remaining in one foster home until they can be reunited with rehabilitated biological family or adopted by their La Cuna families. We have a terrific board of directors who are very active. Our board is led by two wonderful Co-Presidents: John Gomez and Chief Adolfo Gonzalez. The founder is looking forward to working with an Executive Director, so that we may grow to the next level. We are further in the midst of receiving "treatment level status," which will expand our program capabilities and provide an income stream from the county for our operations.

For further information, our website is: www.lacuna.org

We are committed to helping some of our most vulnerable community members, who are too young to speak up for their own needs - our Latino foster babies.
