Solving Everything - Well Almost Everything
Creating Life-support Sustaining Economies and
Ways of Life in the San Diego/Tijuana Region
A "Jim Bell & Common Sense" Workshop

What is the point of life? What is it all about? Why are we here? What is the meaning of life? Why do we exist? What is our purpose?I believe that our purpose is to further the process of Consciousness becoming. Whether set in motion by God or providence, we are part of an experiment to see if energy and matter coming together through natural attractions can create beings conscious enough to survive their own cleverness.

If we are to survive our cleverness, we have to have to use it to transform our current non-sustainable economies and ways of life into economies and ways of life that protect human and environmental health.

In his talk, Jim will show how the San Diego/Tijuana Region can gracefully transform its current non-sustainable economies and ways of life into economies and ways of life that are life-support sustaining and renewable energy, water and food self-sufficient. He will also show how we can achieve these goals at a lower cost than continuing our dependence on imported energy, water and food. Additionally, becoming renewable energy, water and food self-sufficient will eliminate most air and water pollution and all energy use related greenhouse gas emissions.

San Diego Water Use Restrictions

On Tuesday May 5th the San Diego City Council unanimously approved restrictions on the  water use  for San Diego residents. In declaring that San Diego is suffering from a long-term drought and that water coming into San Diego is being reduced by both the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California and the San Diego County Water Authority, the Council approved strong water conservation measures. Effective June 1 2009, residents throughout the city are restricted from irrigating their lawns and landscape except for certain days of the week. If you have an odd numbered address you can only water outside on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday between the hours of 6:00 p.m. in the evening and 10:00 a.m. in the morning. If you have automated sprinklers, they can only be running for a maximum of 10 minutes. If you have an even numbered address you can only water outside on Saturday, Monday, and Wednesday between the hours of 6:00 p.m. in the evening and 10:00 a.m. in the morning. If you have automated sprinklers, they can only be running for a maximum of 10 minutes.  Lack of water is a major natural resource crisis we will be facing in the foreseeable future. I strongly encourage all San Diegans to not take these actions lightly. Follow the new water use rules, and conserve water in every way you can to help avoid severe drastic actions in the future that will cost us all.

The Water Department will be conducting a series of public education sessions regarding the new requirements. Meetings will be held in each Council District on the following dates and beginning at 6 p.m.:

UAAMAC Clergy/Community Leaders Educational Breakfast Series

"ADDRESSING ISSUES IN MENTAL HEALTH: AM I CRAZY TOO?"

DID YOU KNOW?
That exposure to violence can lead to post traumatic stress disorder?
That Black and Brown children are at greater risk for mental illness than other ethnic groups
It is difficult to discern the Onset of Serious Psychiatric Illness
That undue stress associated with chronic unemployment and racism creates
anxiety?
Given the current economic crisis and social dislocation facing the Black and Latino communities, it is quite apparent that our collective mental health is at risk.  We must be proactive in increasing prevention efforts and response to early signs of trauma and emotional and behavioral health problems. Please join us for breakfast as we discuss issues in mental health with a local mental health specialist.
