Reality Changers

Presentation (4/29):
Reality Changers
Chris Yanov, Executive Director

This presentation will address the history of Reality Changers and the counterproductive nature of gang prevention programs.  It will also share the innovative strategies of Reality Changers, a program designed to prepare inner-city youth to become first generation college students and whose members, the majority of whom lived on the precipice of joining gangs, have earned over $4,200,000 in scholarships since 2001.

As the Founder and Executive Director of Reality Changers, Mr. Yanov has raised and awarded over $1,000,000 in scholarships to inner-city students before turning 30 years old.

Christopher Yanov graduated in two-and-a-half years from the University of California, San Diego in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Spanish Literature. Mr. Yanov also completed two Master's programs at the University of San Diego in 2004 with degrees in Peace & Justice and International Relations.

Currently, Mr. Yanov is also an inaugural commissioner of the San Diego Commission on Gang Prevention and Intervention.
