PVH: Communtiy Health Survey

We would like to invite your participation in the community ranking process of the top health issues affecting residents in the Paradise Valley Hospital (PVH) service area. The Paradise Valley Community Health Fund Advisory Committee will use the results of this survey, along with community input from the February community forums and health indicators for the region, to determine the priorities for the first round of funding for the Paradise Valley Community Health Fund at The San Diego Foundation. The Request for Proposals will be released in late May.

We ask that you only participate in the survey once, either by responding online or by filling in a paper copy of the survey. Please feel free to distribute this email to other interested individuals. If you did not receive this email directly and would like to be added to our mailing list for updates related to the PVH Fund, please click here.

The Paradise Valley Community Health Fund Advisory Committee, The San Diego Foundation, and Alliance Healthcare Foundation appreciate your participation in this important process. Volunteers Resume Reviewers Needed

As you know, the San Diego Workforce Partnership along with the Urban League will be holding a Resource Fair on April 23rd. One of the things we are doing for San Diego residents that day will be to critique their resumes. If you could send this out to your distribution list, I need a few more volunteers that day to critique resumes. The individuals that volunteer should have a good understanding of resumes and the ability to give individuals honest feedback. If anyone can assist me on April 23rd, please email me at jessicam@workforce.org

It is at Golden Hall 202 C Street on April 23. The resume critiques run from 8 to 3:30. If you and some co-workers are willing to do a shift or two that would be great!

The shifts are:
8-10:45
10:45-1:15
1:15-3:30

Join Farmworkers in Lobbying for Basic Rights on the Anniversary of Cesar's Passing

More than one hundred farm workers will be in Sacramento this Thursday, April 23--on the 16th anniversary of Cesar Chavez' passing--to lobby to protect themselves from grower abuses.
Farm workers want to tell their legislators about the abuses and safety violations they are forced to deal with on a daily basis. Things like a lack of clean drinking water, shade to protect them from the searing sun, and clean restrooms. They also want breaks that would allow them to use these "luxuries". They want to ask their legislators and Governor Schwarzenegger to give farm workers the tools to help farm workers enforce the laws themselves.

SB789, CA Employee Free Choice Act for Farm Workers (Steinberg), is a bill that will do this. This important bill will make it easier for farm workers to organize and help enforce the laws that California's government cannot enforce.

SB789 will be on the senate floor Thursday afternoon and farm workers will be lobbying in Sacramento to encourage senators to pass this vital bill.

Honor Cesar Chavez' legacy on the 16th anniversary of his passing by taking action to support this vital bill. Send your e-mail today. .
