From David Valladolid-Gil Cedillo For Congress
State Senator Gil Cedillo has decided to run for Congress 32nd District to replace Congresswoman Hilda Solis who is in the process of confirmation hearings as the next Sec. of Labor for President Obama's administration. Senator Cedillo is one of the most progressive state legislators and he would be a great addition to Congress. Tere and I are planning to host a San Diego fundraising event at our home for Senator Cedillo in the near future. He needs our help and he will be a great help to the Obama administration in Washington. I'm inviting you to CO-HOST the fundraising event for only $100.00. Please take a few minutes to visit his website and view his video. Then let me know if you are willing to co-host the event. I will keep you posted. http://www.gilcedillo.com/ SI SE PUEDE! 3rd Annual Friends of Scott Prom Friday, April 24th at 6:30 p.m., Hall of Champions, Balboa Park
For one unforgettable night, the children are treated like movie stars - it's an evening to simply forget their battle with cancer. Last year, more than 175 teens with cancer enjoyed a special evening of dancing, refreshments and red carpet treatment. Almost everything for this magical night is donated. Here's how you can be part of the special evening-please help spread the word that we need gently used prom dresses! Those formal dresses that girls wore once and now hang in the back of closets will give such pleasure to young girls with cancer. We also need accessories like purses and wraps to help the girls keep warm. A $20.00 gift card from Payless Shoes allows one girl to buy a pair of party shoes to match her outfit.
Here are some dress donation guidelines: Dresses should be: from 2002 to present, clean and on hangers, prom dresses, formal gowns, or fancy party dresses, received by April 1, 2009
The Friends of Scott Prom has many unique sponsorship opportunities. For more information, please contact Anna Sciarrino at sciarrino@cox.net

The Devil's Breath: The Untold Story of the San Diego Wildfires
A note to let you know that The Devil's Breath: The Untold Story of the San Diego Wildfires is screening next month at the San Diego Latino Film Festival. This a bit longer version than what has aired on UCSD-TV last year. When: Friday March 13 @ 6:30 P.M. Where: UltraStar Cinemas - Hazzard Center
In October 2007 the worst firestorm in San Diego history claimed 11 lives and injured dozens of people. The world watched as 7 fires spread throughout the county fueled by fierce, Santa Ana winds. Those gusts are referred to as the The Devil's Breath. Seven of the victims who died in the Harris Fire, were undocumented people from different parts of Mexico, including three women, who were making a dangerous and illegal trek through the rugged mountains of San Diego's east county when they suddenly became trapped in the storm's path. www.thedevilsbreath.org
