Presentation (2/11): Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County - National Mnetoring Month
Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County has the mission to improve the lives of children through creating and supporting one-to-one mentoring relationships with proven results. In 2008 our agency served over 1600 San Diego county children through community and site-based programs. Unfortunately there are hundreds of children still waiting for a Big Brother or Big Sister, a service we provide for free to any child that asks. To change the life of a child in San Diego, a volunteer needs only to commit to spending a few hours twice a month, for the duration of a year. With your help as a volunteer, we can make a difference for a child and positively impact a community.
Our Presenter: Michael Purcell
Michael Purcell works for Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County as the Amachi Community Outreach Specialist. His role with the agency is to create partnerships with community, service and faith-based organizations in San Diego to recruit volunteers, and spread awareness of the Big Brothers Big Sisters Programs. Michael grew up in Indiana and attended Indiana University in Bloomington. He moved to San Diego just over a year ago and enjoys reading, exercising and spending time outdoors.
