San Diego Sundance Fundraiser
The Sun Dance is a ceremony practiced by a number of Native American tribes in Turtle Island (The Americas). This ceremony is one of many important spiritual ceremonies practiced by Native Americans in the American Continent. Each tribe has its own distinct rituals and methods of performing the dance, but many of the ceremonies have features in common, including dancing, singing, praying, drumming, the experience of visions, fasting, and in some cases piercing of the chest or back. The object of being pierced is to sacrifice one's self to the Great Spirit (God), and to pray while connected to the Tree of Life, a direct connection to the Great Spirit. The Red Stone Sundance Ceremony in Casa Blanca, Arizona is held every year the Sunday after Easter Sunday for four days in honor and prayer for our Children.
On February 7th 2009, the San Diego Sundance Family will be organizing a Fundraiser in order to help raise funds for this year's Sundance. The Dinner Event will be held at the San Ysidro Recreational Center located at 212 West Park Avenue San Ysidro, CA 92173.
Tickets are $15.00 for adults and Children 12 and under are FREE!
To purchase tickets please contact Luis Gmez at 619-549-4223. Or by e-mail at papigomez@cox.net
