Project "LIVE"
(Lessening the Impact of the Victims Experience)

Project "LIVE" consists of positive intervention services that support and assist O'Farrell students (including their families) that have a parent(s)/ caregiver(s) that are currently incarcerated or have been incarcerated within the past 5 years.  Project LIVE addresses the emotional, academic and physical needs of these identified students.

Our Presenter: Mary Skrabucha
Ms. Skrabucha has been the Coordinator of the Family Resource Center at O'Farrell Community School since 1991.  She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Masters in Education.  She also has her teaching credential.  Throughout her career, working with at risk youth has always been her passion.

San Diego, CA - The Rotary Club of Southeast San Diego in collaboration with the, National Council for Negro Women (San Diego chapter), NAACP-San Diego and North County Branches, Black American Political Association of California, Multi-Cultural Convention Services Network (MCCSN), ULSDC Young Professionals/Guild/Career College Club Network (C3N) and the Urban League of San Diego County will host an Inaugural Gala Celebration to mark the historic triumph of President-Elect Barack Obama.
 

The black-tie event will take place on Tuesday, January 20, 2009, from 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm at the new Joe & Vi Jacobs Center located at 404 Euclid Avenue San Diego, CA 92114, in Market Creek Plaza. Guests will enjoy a buffet, dancing, entertainment, broadcasts from Washington, DC and remarks by some of the nation's most prominent leaders.
 

The Gala will commemorate the accomplishments of African Americans leading up to this historic moment, a moment that many people did not think they would see in their lifetime.
