San Diego, CA - The Rotary Club of Southeast San Diego in collaboration with the, National Council for Negro Women (San Diego chapter), NAACP-San Diego and North County Branches, Black American Political Association of California, Multi-Cultural Convention Services Network (MCCSN), ULSDC Young Professionals/Guild/Career College Club Network (C3N) and the Urban League of San Diego County will host an Inaugural Gala Celebration to mark the historic triumph of President-Elect Barack Obama (Flier Attached).
The black-tie event will take place on Tuesday, January 20, 2009, from 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm at the new Joe & Vi Jacobs Center located at 404 Euclid Avenue San Diego, CA 92114, in Market Creek Plaza. Guests will enjoy a buffet, dancing, entertainment, broadcasts from Washington, DC and remarks by some of the nation's most prominent leaders.
The Gala will commemorate the accomplishments of African Americans leading up to this historic moment, a moment that many people did not think they would see in their lifetime. This dynamic group is comprised of key local talent, ages 21 to 40, who are committed to corporate, social and community activism. About the USLDC Guild The Urban League Guild was established in 1942 as a fundraising component to the National Urban League. As a result, Guilds are now operation in more than 85 cities under the National Council of Urban League Guilds. The principle concerns of the Urban League Guilds are in the areas of interpretations, leadership development, and fund-raising. About C3N C3N is a group of African American and other underserved youth around San Diego interested in being the leaders of the 21st Century. The club acts as a bridge between the Youth Leadership Team and the Young Professionals at the Urban League by creating an auxiliary for college aged youth.
About the National Council for Negro Women The goal of NCNW San Diego Section is to strengthen the economic and social position of women and their families. It is our aim to make a better place for our youth, and to become an agent of change for our community. It is our goal to "Leave No One Behind." The National Council of Negro Women, Inc. (NCNW) is the nation's broadest based organization of African American Women, with an outreach to four million.
