Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Breakfast
 
UAAMAC's 2009 Event Series: Building the Beloved Community The 14th Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Breakfast will be held on January 19, 2009 from 7:30am to 10:00am and the Summit: Building The Beloved Community will be held on February 20-21, 2009 from 6:00am to 7:30pm at the Joe and Vi Jacobs Center (404 Euclid Avenue). The Community Breakfast will include a presentation of Hero/Shero Awards and a reading of the winning essays from the MLKJ Youth Essay Contest. The Summit will focus on best practices, and the development of an action plan for implementing these practices in five areas: Economic Development, Public Education, Public Health, Judicial Reform, and Family Stability. Established in 1968 by Coretta Scott King, The King Center is the official, living memorial dedicated to the advancement of the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., leader of America's greatest nonviolent movement for justice, equality and peace.

President Stephen L. Weber and Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. James R. Kitchen invite all alumni to join the SDSU delegation in the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Parade on Saturday, January 17. We will be marching as a campus delegation under a unified SDSU banner.

We will be meeting at PETCO Taligate Park (13th and Imperial Avenue) for parade formation. If you would like to participate, please arrive and register at PETCO Taligate Park by 9:30 a.m.
