ACTION ALERT

Tragic Loss of Two Young Lives in Disctrict 4
Message from Councilmember Tony Young

Councilman Young commented to the Council on today's agenda regarding the tragic murders of Monique Ashley Palmer and Michael Taylor, Jr. on early Saturday morning. Our thoughts and prayers are going out to their families regarding these tragedies. We are angry that there are murderers running loose in our community. With the help of the community and the police they will be caught!

At both Lincoln and Point Loma high schools, pastors, ministers, school counselors and administrators were present to engage grieving students to provide an ear to listen and a shoulder to cry on.

On Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at 6:00 p.m., in conjunction with several organizations and ministers, Tony Young  will host a Community Meeting at the Joe and Vi Jacobs Center located at 404 Euclid Avenue to allow the community an opportunity to assist the victims' families, hear from the police on what efforts are being made to catch these criminals, and share what efforts are being made in the community to address it.

Please keep in mind that both families were unprepared for these losses and are in desperate need of financial assistance. If you can attend tomorrow please come with any financial assistance that you can help with.

Please contact Tony Young's office at 619-236-6644 for additional information on assisting the families. Your continued thoughts and prayers for the families are greatly appreciated.

Anyone with information about the shootings is asked to call the Homicide Unit at (619) 531-2293 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
