POSITION OVERVIEW
 
Our client, a growing non-profit organization with a mission to enhance the lives of people with intellectual disabilities has engaged us to find a State Director for California.
 
The State Director is responsible for securing funding for programs and special projects.  S/he identifies and cultivates individual donors, corporations, foundations and government agencies (who have the capacity to provide financial support) and connects the interests or mission of these funding sources with the needs of the organization. The State Director also oversees day-to-day operations for offices throughout the state, develops expansion efforts, and assists and directs program staff.  The State Director collaborates with staff in the Headquarters office to ensure program consistency and success. 

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Develops a state plan, and implements its goals and objectives 
  •  Develops and manages the state's budget
  •  Manages Advisory Boards in each of our
  • California offices, including recruitment, training and retention of members
  • Plans and executes special events with local Advisory Boards
  • Manages government grants and contracts to ensure all guidelines are met 
  • Identifies, cultivates and incorporates capable volunteers in programmatic and fundraising efforts 
  • Initiates recruitment strategies for programs statewide
  • Recruits, trains, supervises and evaluates program staff
  • Monitors program expansion and maintenance
  • Adheres to governmental, grant and other reporting requirements
  • Creates public awareness of the organization through speeches, community involvement, public service announcements, special events and other marketing/media initiatives

    Requirements:
  • We are seeking exceptional candidates who demonstrate strong initiative, exceptional organizational and communication skills, and a dedication to the organization's mission.
  • The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree and at least seven years' progressive experience in fund raising (and staff/volunteer/board management experience)
  • S/he will have a consistent record of success in generating at least $500,000 or more annually in gifts from various funding sources. 
  • S/he will be a confident, strategic thinker with excellent organizational, writing and public presentation skills. 
  • S/he will have a record of success in expanding a donor base through cultivation and stewardship.
  • S/he will be able to articulate the mission, goals, and activities of the organization with passion and enthusiasm.
  • A successful candidate will have superb interpersonal skills, and will be comfortable making direct contact with various funding sources to discuss their interest and commitment.  
  • S/he will work effectively with colleagues to achieve income goals.  S/he will have the highest ethical standards and a deep respect for philanthropy.
  • S/he will be flexible, adaptable, and will enjoy working in a fast-paced growth environment.
     
     
    Miscellaneous:
  • Travels as necessary to accomplish above responsibilitie.
  • Handles special projects as assigned; works evenings and weekends as necessary to complete assignments.
  • Attends annual conferences.
  • Automobile with applicable insurance (specific coverage limits required)
  • Must be comfortable interacting and working with people with intellectual disabilities.

Position Overview:
The CDC is seeking a full-time Resource Development Manager. This position reports to the President & CEO; is a member of the Management Team; supervises a Development Associate; and works collaboratively with public relations and fundraising consultants. The Resource Development Manager is responsible for meeting the CDC's fundraising goals ($350,000 for FY08-09). The Resource Development Manager will focus their initial efforts on strengthening the CDC's Sponsorship and Community Builders' membership programs, while implementing strategies for annual giving (including annual appeals), Major Gifts, and Planned Giving.

Responsibilities:
  • Implementation of Development Plan. Donor/sponsor fulfillment/stewardship
  • Oversight of hard copy and electronic fundraising records and reports. Active networking throughout the region to develop funding relationships and partnerships.
  • Sponsorships: Oversee/implement the aggressive research, identification, cultivation, and solicitation of current and prospective sponsors; oversee the design of sponsor packages, benefits tracking, success reports, and on-site event-sponsor needs.
  • Membership: Oversee/implement the aggressiveresearch, identification, cultivation, and solicitation of current and prospectiveCommunity Builders' members; oversee the design of solicitation packages and benefits tracking
  • Foundation and Corporate Grants: Serve as liaison with grants consultant.
  • Annual Appeal: Upgrade/expand direct mail and online campaigns.
  • Major Gifts and Planned Giving/Endowment: Create/implement new programs.
  • Promotion/Marketing: Oversee accurate, appropriate and timely materials as they relate to funders; pursue speaking engagements.
  • Teams: Represent Resource Development on internal and external teams, i.e.: Alley Cat Art Walk, Volunteer Task Force, and Event and Promotion Planning.
  • Volunteer Program.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of fundraising experience with increasing levels of responsibility
  • Demonstrated understanding of standard fundraising practices and programs
  • Proven track record in researching, soliciting, and securing donor, sponsor, and/or member income Well-organized with excellent written and oral communication skills Demonstrated management skills
  • Strong marketing and public relations experience
    �Strong computer literacy skills with proficiency in Donor Perfect, MS Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    �BA degree

Responsibilities:
The Development Coordinator will assist the Director of Development and the Dean to successfully plan and implement all development activities in the School of Business Administration.  Operates under the general supervision of the Director of Development. Student workers and volunteers in the Development Office, as assigned. Responsible  for planning and execution of donor cultivation events scheduled during the day, at night and on the weekends on and off campus.
Requirements:
HS Diploma and 4-5 years of development, marketing, and/or administrative experience OR Bachelor's degree and 2-3 years of development, marketing, and/or administrative experience.
Experience in developing and managing administrative systems.
Experience in cold calling and successfully securing person to person appointments.

Monitor financial resources and produce detailed reports. Knowledge of department, division, and university procedures.  Expertise in Microsoft Office, the Internet, and database management (Advance preferred).Ability to discern problems and facilitate resolutions. Ability to juggle multiple assignments and competing projects. Deal with confidential information with tact and discretion. Organized, analytical, and able to meet deadlines.
