Dia de Avance Latino y Ensenana (DALE)

National Day of Campus Action
Tuesday, October 9, 2007

Formerly, Latino Education and Advocacy Day (LEAD)

TWO toolkits are now available online
to assist your campus events.

DALE! Toolkit

DALE! Nonpartisan Voter Registration Tool Kit

Help engage Latino students on college and university campuses across the country in the issues they care about! Be an agent of change!

DALE, conctate, y motiva la gente en tu campus. Take part in the second Annual National Day of Campus Action
on Tuesday, October 9, 2007 during Hispanic Heritage month.

Last year NCLR organized the first Latino Education and Advocacy Day (LEAD) in October 2006. With help from campus groups, we registered over 1,200 young Latino voters last year and educated thousands more on college campuses across the country!

As we approach a very important election year, we hope to make youth voter education and voter registration a key component of DALE.

If you are a high school student who wants to get involved we encourage you to contact your local university or community college.

For groups who would like guidance and support in how your campus can get involved, contact Stacy Terrell
at sterrell@nclr.org or (202) 785-1670.

Please feel free to forward this information to other student organizations on college campuses that may also want to participate.

Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to hold Inaugural Golf Tournament

"El Clsico" will benefit Organization's programs and scholarship recipients

San Diego, CA (Sept. 20, 2007) - The San Diego County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (SDCHCC) will host its first-ever Golf Tournament, created to become an annual event. Appropriately named "El Clsico," the Hispanic Chamber Golf Classic is scheduled to be held on Friday, November 9, 2007 at the Maderas Golf Club in Poway, CA. Proceeds from the event will benefit SDCHCC programs and scholarship recipients.

The day will begin with a Noon shotgun start and a box lunch provided by Maderas Golf Club. Tee prizes and raffle items will be awarded; participants will have a chance to win $1 million and a brand new car. Everyone present can enjoy the rest of the evening and unwind starting at 6 p.m. during a cocktail reception to the sounds of steel drums, while enjoying, sweet drinks and a Caribbean dinner with friends and family.

Individual players are $200, foursomes $800. Entry fee includes greens, cart, range balls, Maderas pouch with golf accessories, raffle tickets, drink tickets, box lunch & dinner with auction. Spots are limited and sponsorship opportunities are available.

The San Diego County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has over 970 members and is both the largest border chamber and fastest-growing Hispanic chamber on the West Coast. Established in 1989, the SDCHCC promotes and advocates for small businesses through a variety of events, programs and services. The Chamber serves over 1,500 small businesses through the DEVO Procurement Program. It is a dynamic organization poised to be a key "pivot player" both on the local and bi-national arena.

For more information about El Clsico, including sponsorship opportunities, please contact Denice Garca at 619-702-0790 or email at dgarcia@sdchcc.com.

I would be remise if I did not end this weeks community newsletter by thanking Mayor Jerry Sanders for the courages and historic statement he made this past month. Sometimes we are called to make difficult decisions for the health of our community. For putting aside the politics, for listening to your heart, and for making generations of Minitowners and Anytowners proud, for doing what was right, THANK YOU!!!

Sincerely,
Pedro Anaya Jr.
