Greetings!

Everyone at Phantom Racing Chassis hopes that your racing season has been going well thus far.  We know that many parts of the country were plagued by countless weeks of rain,  but hopefully you have been able to get on track recently.

This past weekend marked the second stop of the CRI Pro Kart Tour, which was held at Beechnut Raceway in Blountville, Tennessee.  An incredible cast of racers traveled from all across the country to compete.  After a short battle with "mother nature," racing resumed and the fireworks flew!  At the end of the night, Phantom customers rose to the challenge and walked away with 6 class victories.  We would like to congratulate each of these races for their success!

New Look - New Information - New Site...Phantom Website Release

Phantom Racing Chassis is proud to announce the release of our brand new website.  After months of planning, designing and testing the site, we are proud to announce its release!

The new site has taken on a new look, but that is not all!  We have taken enormous amounts of time to organize and develop the site in a manner which is both easy to navigate and still offer a great deal of information!  There has never been more information, more technical support data, and more chassis specifics as there is in this new site!

In addition, we have added multiple new pages with information and downloads never offered by PRC before!  Free logo and media downloads, streaming technical videos, and easy to download setup sheets are just a few of the features offered to our customers on our new website!

Movement of the Left Rear...Technical Article

One of the areas which we've received more and more questions about is what should a racer expect when moving the LR hub.  From a physics standpoint, moving the hub in will cause it to weigh more and bite more.  In contrast, moving the hub out will make it weigh less and bite less.  Now years ago the thinking was less LR bite would help a kart turn better center off and more would help the back end stay up under the kart better center off.

When the Icon chassis came out in 2007 however, how the kart responded to a LR move nearly reversed.  With both the Icon and Seraph chassis', if the LR is not biting hard enough, the kart will often "push," especially center off.   If we choose to move the LR to make a kart turn better on exit, we'll typically move the hub in.  On the other hand, if the kart is loose off the corner, we might move the LR out.  This being said, with the high left and high cross we tend to run these days, there are still some instances where the LR will be overloaded getting in or getting off of the corner.  In this situation, moving the tire out may help the kart turn better as it will lighten the overall load on the LR tire.  I realize this can be confusing but it's the way it works:  it always depends on how the tire is actually working with the rest of the setup.

At the end of the day, with an Icon or Seraph chassis, if the kart needs to turn better through the center of the corner and off, and you have decided to move the LR with hopes of making the kart turn better, I suggest you start by moving the LR hub in.  On the rare occasion it doesn't then you may want to try moving it out.  Finally, and truthfully, we don't typically move the LR around.

Until Next Time...
