Dear Educator,

The Natural High DVD Series
interviews high profile athletes and artists who are clean and respected to tell youth why choosing a "Natural High" is better then drugs and alcohol.

In October 2007, Natural High 3 was distributed to 114,000 schools for free with the potential to reach 31,000,000 students throughout the school year.
We also launched www.naturalhigh.org where students can enter the "My Natural High Contest" (see article below) to win scholarships, apple gift cards, or a chance to star in Natural High 4! Use this website with your students as an additional exercise to accompany the Natural High DVDs. We look forward to hearing your thoughts, comments and suggestions.

Teenage Risks and How to Avoid Them
New studies showed that adolescents actually overestimate their risk of suffering negative side effects from activities like drinking and unprotected sex. Dr. Valerie Reyna at Cornell University discovered that, "teenagers do rationally weigh benefits and risks, but when they do that, the equation delivers the message to go ahead and do that, because to the teen the benefits outweigh the risks." For example, where as an adolescent might consider playing Russian roulette for a $1 million payoff, a normal adult would not give it a moment's thought. Read full article for her suggestions.

Use these facts, lesson plans, and tool kits to help you further address the topic of drugs and alcohol in your class and community. Make sure to read the document labeled "Pocket Shots" to see the new alarming alcohol product designed to target youth. Also, take a minute to look through the Natural High Comprehensive Lesson Plan for ideas to accompany the Natural High DVD Series.

More Visuals to Reach Teens
The Montana Meth Project is a large scale prevention program aimed at significantly reducing first time meth use through public service messaging, public policy and community outreach. The Meth project is the largest advertiser in Montana, reaching 70-90% of teens three times a week. With its shock approach and high saturation in TV ads, Radio ads, print impressions and billboards teen meth use in the state of Montana declined by 45% between the years 2005-2007. Montana also moved from #5 in the nation for meth abuse to #38, just in this two year period. Watch, download, and share their ads for free.
