Message from the Executive Manager
Over the past couple of weeks I have been out of the office attending three conferences relating to solid waste and wastewater management (The SWANA National Conference in Banff, WaterTech 2010, also in Banff, and the Canadian Cleantech Summit in Ottawa). Attending these conferences allowed us to showcase some important aspects of what the EWMCE has been doing, but it also provided opportunities to renew linkages with people and organizations with whom we partner and collaborate. These included researchers, technology developers, regulators, and people from the funding agencies that make our work possible (e.g., IRAP, NSERC, SDTC, FCM, Innovation Vouchers, etc.).
While it is most enjoyable to visit with old friends, occasions like these are where new linkages are made, and I was struck by the fact that there is still so much untapped potential for positive collaboration waiting to be developed. While more and more people are aware of our existence, the manner in which we might collaborate is often obscure. To anyone in this category, I invite you to continue (or initiate) discussions to see how we can work together. Further, if you know of anyone that might benefit from an association with us, but who might not know of us, please pass on our coordinates to them. I think that, in some ways and in some quarters we are still a fairly well kept secret. However, I also think that the good-news story we represent should be shared with those that can benefit from it. Any help in this regard will be greatly appreciated! |
