Message from the Executive Manager
One of the main focuses of the Centre's management team this month has been the annual financial audit. I am happy to report that it went very well and reflected great credit on our accountant, Alison Christensen, and Business Manager, Katrin Hoffmann. Although Alison and Katrin present financial statements to our management committee on a regular basis, the audit process brought home to me again the complex nature of our operations. Each of our projects has to be accounted for separately and different projects have different conditions attached to their funding. Keeping track of all this is not a trivial task, and we are fortunate to have very good people looking after it. Too often, the efforts of the people who do all the "background" work get obscured by the "foreground" work of researchers and project managers. It's nice to have this opportunity to thank Katrin, Alison, and all the others who provide vital administrative support to the Centre.
Thank you all!
Regards,
Dr. Jerry Leonard, P.Eng., Executive Manager |
