HST Notice
In 2009 Ontario's Budget proposed a
comprehensive package of tax changes. Central to this tax package was
the Harmonized Sales Tax (HST), which was approved and will come into
effect July 1, 2010.
What does this mean for
you?
This
means effective July 1, 2010 Provincial Sales Tax (PST) will be
replaced with a value-added tax that will be combined with the federal
Goods and Services Tax (GST) to create a Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) for
Ontario.
The provincial portion of the HST will be 8% and the federal portions
will be 5%, for a combined HST rate of 13%.
What does this mean?
All Neighbourhood Wireless subscribers will now pay the HST on their
monthly bill.
In all cases this means your monthly cost has gone
up because only part of your services from us were previously subject to
PST. There is no increase in our fees in this, jut HST on everything,
which is then remitted to the federal government. Your monthly
pre-authorized credit card or automatic debit will increase accordingly.

Did you know?
Almost everyone is using or
has used a USB flash drive or a USB hard drive for backup or transport.
But did you know that you can permanently damage these devices if you do not eject them properly. Even though
most all USB devices are designed to be simply plugged and unplugged from your
computer, USB storage devices such as hard drives, flash drives, and cameras really
should be ejected before unplugging. You
increase your chances of damaging the memory if you just yank it out of the USB
port. All it takes is unplugging it at
just the wrong moment and you might lose all your data. So, to be on the safe side, always eject by
clicking on the safely remove hardware icon on the taskbar and select the device you want before
unplugging it from your computers USB port. It will then tell you that it is
now safe to remove the device. It is always better to be safe than sorry when
it comes to protecting your data. |

Save bandwidth by avoiding attachments whenever possible.
The next time you're about
to send an email with large attachments, think twice! If
the file you're about to attach to your internet email
can be found elsewhere on the net, it maybe better to
send the address of that location rather than attaching a
copy of the file itself. If nothing else, this will save
you some time because your system doesn't have to
transfer the large attachment. Also, your recipient(s)
can decide whether to download the file or not, where as
if you had attached it, they may not have any option but
to take the time to download it even if they don't want
to.
