Baltimore businessman and philanthropist David Cordish and his family received the first Yemin Orde Tikkun Halev Award for their humanitarian and philanthropic efforts on behalf of at-risk children in Israel. The award was presented on May 8, 2012 at the home of Israel Ambassador to the U.S. Michael Oren and his wife, Sally Oren. The Cordish-Yemin Orde connection is a family affair. David, Suzi, Jon, Blake and Reed are all enthusiastic supporters with friendships and connections that span generations.

YO graduate Tamir Azaleh has a sweet family business.
Recently, a group of tenth grade children went on a field trip to visit a Yemin Orde graduate who now owns and operates a honey-making business in Ramat Hagolan. Tamir Azaleh,
whose family made honey in Ethiopia, urged the children to honor tradition, set goals and pursue their dreams.

Esther and Yehuda Journo are very special volunteers at Yemin Orde Youth Village. They serve as grandparents to the hundreds of children at the Village and are always welcoming and friendly with their warm smiles and hospitality. Esther and Yehuda work in the Village's temporary library, organize special exhibits and help out at special events and programs.

We say goodbye and thanks to Chaim Peri as he heads back to Israel after two months in the U.S. Chaim visited Yemin Orde friends, attended meetings and fundraisers, and shared stories from the Village with communities from Miami, New York, California and many cities in between.
New Scholarship Fund to Help Ethiopian Graduates of Yemin Orde

Friends of Yemin Orde is pleased to announce a new scholarship fund to benefit Yemin Orde graduates of Ethiopian Jewish descent. The fund, named in honor of Will and Nancy Recant and their daughters, Rebecca and Jennifer, was created by Susan Pollack and Chaim Peri in appreciation of the amazing work of Will and Nancy in helping the Ethiopian Jewish community and other vulnerable populations.
