JTA Op-Ed: Israel's Educational System Needs a Fresh Start
by Chaim Peri
The wildfire that raged through Mount Carmel near Haifa in December 2010 was devastating for northern Israel. At Yemin Orde, the educational village for at-risk and immigrant youth that I ran for many years, the fire destroyed nearly half of our facilities. But when it came time to rebuild our cloistered safe haven for 500 youths, we had the opportunity for a fresh start.
On the eve of Israel's 64th birthday, the nation's whole educational system could use a fresh start.
Friends of Yemin Orde is pleased to announce the launch of its newly designed and enhanced website. The new site offers an exciting and informative user experience that provides a robust and colorful tour of the Village: from videos and graduate profiles to photos and a new blog. Visit us at www.yeminorde.org to explore new ways to experience
our Village - virtually! Let us know what you think:

The robotics team designed a basketball-playing robot!
Yemin Orde Youth Village's robotics team did a great job at the 2012 FIRST Robotics Competition in Tel Aviv. This year's challenge required the team to build a robotic model that could play basketball and mount a wobbly bridge while maintaining its balance.
