Ambassador Shapiro plants olive tree at YO.
|
U.S. Ambassador to Israel Dan Shapiro recently was welcomed to Yemin Orde Youth Village to help celebrate the Jewish holiday of Tu B'Shevat, also known as Jewish Arbor Day. Ambassador Shapiro planted an olive tree at the Village and also dedicated a plaque that commemorates the "deep-rooted friendship" between Israel and the United States. "I feel blessed to have this opportunity to plant a tree in Israel, in Yemin Orde Youth Village, where I know that you, the children of Yemin Orde, will look after and nourish this sapling for many years to come," said the Ambassador.

Celebrations at Yemin Orde
Benny Fisher, Director, Yemin Orde Youth Village
 | |
Drumming, art projects and games were all part of the celebration.
|
We recently celebrated two important events at the Village: Yemin Orde Day and the Jewish holiday of Tu B'Shevat, which marks the beginning of spring in Israel. For Yemin Orde Day, we chose the day of our return to the Village after the fire as a great day of celebration. We view this occasion in a much wider spectrum than just about the fire at the Village.
