Groundwork - fortnightly quick read
Greetings!

In this issue Sandra Batley continues her series about her landscape and garden tour in Europe and the UK. We have also had significant interest in the sculpture galleries on our website and look forward to responding by increasing the number of sculptors contributing in the months to come. Many of you will have noticed the Lighting Pacific solutions pages and case studies on our website. With the strong interest in sculpture and sculptural effects in the landscape I have included a link to the Lighting Garden Sculpture case study in this issue. These case studies are a great way to explore changing the moods and effects that can be achieved using good design principals.

 Lighting Landscape Sculpture

In the last issue I mentioned we are planning with a strong angle on an outdoor living retreat at Ellerslie International Flower Show, with planning being the operative word, it has evolved in to more of a party space with places to retreat... in fact its going to have a pretty big building on it! space for cooking, very cool furniture designed and made in New Zealand, new plant releases, sculpture, art by Dick Frizzell and a whole lot more. Next week you will have a chance to win Diamond club Tickets.

Congratulations to Hawthorne Coffee, who have won gold in the organic category for its Harvest blend, silver in the filter/plunger category for its Kidnappers Breakfast blend and bronze in the supermarket plunger category for its Te Mata Triple blend.

You can win half a kilo of this coffee when you tell a friend about our website - the more friends you tell the more changes you have to win.

When the Royal Horticultural Society reached its bicentenary on 26 June it decided to celebrate. It built a glasshouse, but not just any glasshouse. The Queen even dropped by to open it.

Gardening Tips - Wally Richards

This week I thought it would be a good idea to pass on a number of gardening tips which are topical at this time of the year.

The idea came about when a reader emailed me this week to get some inside information on growing potatoes. His family have an annual competition on growing spuds, to see who can grow the biggest potato, the biggest crop off one plant etc.
